Been a while on Pete - not much to write in terms of tech, but plenty going on just using on the daily and taking out on a trip to the Inyos last month. Amazing, amazing trip with some incredible scenery and even better company! Camping setup shot for your viewing pleasure, this swag is super comfortable but takes up a ton of space in the rig. Highly recommended if you have the space.

One other photo from this morning, picking up smog parts for my FJ60 project. This '94 belongs to the owner of the dealership and he's not selling (I tried).

List of needs is pretty small, list of wants is getting a little longer, starting with a shackle lift and some bigger tires. Hard to explain how awesome this rig is now - exactly what I wanted and had in mind when I bought it.

I tell people my FJ will haul 2 people and a full camp plus a couple of dogs. Don't shoot anything bigger than grouse if you are bringing it home.
That’s what the hood is for!😝

At Rubithon on ‘06 @DHONDAGOD went full Rover and strapped his spare tire down to the hood. :hillbilly:

I just changed out my rear spring bushings, and put on a fresh set of DD shackles to better showcase one of my own products. My patina’d ones are available.😉

And interestingly enough, I got an email yesterday that the first set of tires I ordered, General Grabber 235x85x16 are now available, for one week, at the screaming deal price of $150/tire. Since I already bought different tires, you’re welcome to these.

More camping love for Stinky Pete this weekend. Find myself with some time on my hands and the kids with nothing to do, so took my daughter out on a long-promised camping trip out to Buckhorn in the Angeles National Forest. This campground had been closed for a couple of years due to wildfires, and reopened just before Memorial Day. Took just under an hour in the 40 to get here from home, which is saying something. Problem is that it's that close for everyone else, too...which is why arriving Sunday just after lunch helps. :) Leaving this morning, the campground was just under half full.

The photo below was just behind the campsite. Lots of poison oak, just need to watch for it.

The PCT picks up on a trail at the end of the campground, this was at the bottom of an off-trail scramble to the creek. We had this place to ourselves for a while.

Rig did great but threw me for a small loop, found a little water under the rig once we parked and had let it sit for a while. Opened the hood and found some coolant at the bottom of the radiator, dripping down off the steering linkage and on the driver's side leaf spring. At first it looked like a pinhole leak from the radiator core, but on further inspection it was the upper radiator hose connecting to the thermostat housing, which had moved some and spit a bit of coolant out the bottom of the connection. Re-tightened the hose clamp and all was fine, but may need to look at replacing that hose.

Super cool! Was just thinking about some other places to go; that's nice it's pretty close. Good tip about going during the week. I'm headed to the Eastern Sierras on Thursday, hopefully all goes well.
It's really close, but it gets busy on the weekend. The Burkhart Trail is great, well-maintained and mostly cleared from fallen trees, but very exposed and it's all downhill from the campsite. We didn't have enough water with us to make it to Cooper Canyon, so we just did about 0.5m out and back.

Have a great trip out to the Sierras, looking forward to some photos!
