3rd one down is what I got. I didn't want the avm hubs included. Although they get good pretty good reviews and are only $125 for a set. I went with oem.

I wish I'd spent the extra money on the AISIN. Oh well. The AVM's work so far, but they certainly don't look as good as the AISIN. Of course I was already pushing the budget last year, so that was one of the items I saved on.

Has anyone used the ABS sensor relocating kit from Marks when doing the part time conversion? Looks like you can have part time 4WD and keep your ABS brakes as well? Just wondering if anyone has installed the $300 kit and is so, is it worth it. Thanks.

These things are so heavy and the brakes are'nt the best at best that they dont need abs. I can only remember the bad things that have happened to me because of abs. Your foot should control the brakes is my thinking. At best I hope that kit has a lockout option for abs at will like a bike, or is that a mod that the abs guys do already?

I don't think anyone is making there abs switchable on and off while in 4 high even with the relocation kit. I recently deleted my abs and lsvp valve and my brakes are AMAZING compared to before. All this time screwing around with my brakes. I was satisfied prior but now I know what the 80 brakes can really do with 37" tires. Really impressed.

I do not condone to go delete your abs on any vehicle its just what I did and many other. Disclaimer...

So if I'm understanding correctly, you essentially got a "select-able" front locker for $325?

No he converted his 80 from full time AWD with a selectable center diff lock to a part time 4wd system. This would not affect his front diff.

For $325 + hubs + etc. I got a smooth running drivetrain free of vibes, will save unnecessary wear in moving front axle parts, ability to be a drift machine in the snow, ability to turn off front axle in case of failures on trail, and another cool mod to set me up for a 3 link someday.

Thanks for the clarification. Does anyone know exactly what year 60 Aisin Hubs work??? Don't you have to machine another snap ring groove on the end of the axle shaft?

I am wishing I picked up the low range gears when I installed my marks part time spool. If you are only doing the part time swap it can be done and is faster to leave the case in the truck...although it means you will be doing it on your back if you don't have a lift. If you are doing the low range gears also, then you need to drop the case.

TIP: Don't F around with the High/Low range shift lever or fork when you have the rear half of the case off...If you drop that detent ball and spring out of the shift fork it means you are doing a full tear down and rebuild...ask me how I know!

No need to drop the case with either. Dont underestimate the amount of press work with the gear install.

All year 60 hubs will work. You can purchase the correct 80 Aisin hubs NEW from Cruiser parts for ~$250

You do need a additional groove with Aisin but other hubs (AVM & Warn) its not required
