Yep, the bed is lengthened, i´m not sure how much was added though. It might be up to one meter, even a bit more.

I think it, using the original axles, the just added one extra, the original axle was moved a bit forward and then the second one was added in the back. A transfer case was added to the front rear axle to power the rear rear axle. Both the axles have air lockers.

This mod was done by company called Icecool. It is known for making a few six wheel E series Fords used in the Antartica.

He must have a very small.... bank account by now. :o

Haffi,

Awesome thread.
I could look at your mods and your beautiful country again and again and again.

Thanks for sharing

non rebuild 1HD-T .. ?

Yes I belive so, I have no records of a engine rebuild. The po did not mention anything about engine repairs. I´m sure the BEB´s were replaced around 100.000 and then I had them replaced again when I bought the rig with 380.000 on the clock just to be sure.

Haffi,

Great thread! You have a terrific rig! I don't think any country on the planet can match the Icelanders for off-roading prowess!

Very impressive. Please keep the pictures coming! Iceland is a beautiful and intriguing country.

All I can say is WOW! That is sweet!

I know! I really wanted that pic.... too bad the eruptions you could drive to have stopped. Oh, well, there will be other eruptions some day.

One pic from yesterday instead. Yesterday was the first day of summer according to the calender so of course I went on a camping/snowboarding trip.

Hey Haffi, does your air intake work well, I noticed that you ran it into the cab, is it noisy? do you have any old pics of where it draws air in from? I see you added the hood vent for your intake air, do you have a valve to swap between the two or how does that work?

Thanks!

Cody.

I don´t run the air intake through the cab all the time. It´s just an option to hook it up before crossing a scary river. In fact I haven´t used it.

If you look at these two pics (I think these are somewhere in the thread already) you see it both on and off.
I don´t have any old pics, but what i did before was I turned the intake on the air filter housing. So instead of sucking air from the fender behind the light the intake faced the firewall instead. I hope you understand what i´m trying to explain ;)
Regularly I have the intake as seen on the first pic. Then I belive the hood scoop delivers enough fresh air in to feed the engine even though the intake is so close to the firewall and not facing front.

When connected through the firewall you can clearly hear the sucking sound, but its really not as noisy as one could imagine. I had the same setup on a old Hilux I had, it had a 2,4l non turbo engine, that sounded much worse than the 4.2l I-hdt.
