@69 4 fun - Awesome job carrying on the torch. As for the NorCal annual event, I call for a camping outing next Spring at my secret campground East of Chico. It’s way off paved roads, and it’d be cool to sit around a bonfire with beers or Jack discussing Cruiser related topics.

And cool of pic of Shasta. I’ve been on the top. Great Mtn!!

Thanks
I am in let's don't let this go by the wayside!

:steer: keep the pics and stories coming . . .

Keep me posted

Just got caught up; can't wait for the batons to make it back to the east coast! I mean, that's happening, no? :steer: I'm looking forward to hanging out with @mel lowe @ErikinSC @David1947 @chubot @Godzirra @77wagon and @Kayaker again. There are a few more 40's here in town and I think those folks would love this @dbenke @southerncruiser62 and @Brandog perhaps?

Sounds like a plan. At the rate it took to go west I can guess it will be sometime in 2019 before it shows up in the east again. I'm up for it and will attempt a longer road trip.

I think one of the good things about this adventure is getting people together that might not have otherwise. I know here on Long Island we are planning another trip similar to the baton day... no baton needed!

:) steel pass to Dedeckera canyon...continued from fj40 cross country expedition thread pg. 62. this was a very enjoyable drive thru the canyon north to climb the Eureka dunes! Ancient rock art adorns the dark rocks behind the Land Cruiser.

 The Eureka singing sand dunes are magical! When the sand is hot and steep and an avalanche is triggered by the wind, (or climbing to the top!)the dry top sand emits a low rumbling vibration that creates an audible booming sound ! We stopped in our tracks and looked up thinking a jet was doing a low fly by but the sky was clear. the rumble stopped. our excitement grew. I made it to the top with great effort, and my heart pounding and was well rewarded. Going down, we picked a better line on a wide gradual descent. The animal and bug tracks tell stories in the sand that will intrigue any soul willing to gaze and listen to them.My good friend Peter rode along for this day adventure with me and the company was very well enjoyed,we talked about Toyota's and 40's constantly! We celebrated his birthday a few days prior and the memories will last a lifetime! The inspiration for this trip was fueled by friends like Peter and the the trip to Canyon De Chelly with 4Cruisers for the baton #1, briefcase hand off to Reznugget. Fuel for the soul! Thanks for the inspiration Everyone!

Well, the toolbox baton made its way from Oregon to Washington on Sunday. lorax and FFLC FREAK met up with me in Chehalis, WA.

And we hit the road with a stop at the huge 11' bandmill wheel overlooking the sawmill town of Shelton, WA

Then we caravanned up to Allyn, WA for a meetup with Redgrr in his Troopy

We handed the baton off to Redgrr

He's taking it east to possibly meetup with Awl-Tec in Montana where it starts a trip est thru Canada.

Kyle in his beautiful blue '71 had to leave but the rest of us headed over to Belfair State Park for a few more photos before we split up.

The baton is now in Edgar's (Redgrrr) capable hands and is taking a long Troopy ride east. If you're between Seattle and Butte Montana and want to check his travels send him a message. Nice folks all of them, this was a great way to meet some fellow like-minded individuals. I wish we would have snapped a picture of the immaculate high roof 62 that passed us when we were standing in the parking lot in Allyn. Hopefully we'll get a few more photos from the other participants. The weather was everything from storm to sun, beautiful PNW day.

I'll bet there were some places out by that State Park where we could have ground up a little mud. Nice pic of Seattle from the ferry. I made a photo cut-out of my 40 to take on one of our state park adventures where we took the truck. My wife is holding the picture in front of me. We have a bunch of state park pictures with the cutout.

The Tahuya State Forest is just a handful of miles north of Belfair State Park. It has mild wheeling suitable for the stock trucks and the troopie.

Dang, we shoulda asked spot. But two out of four of us had commitments and after a day in the 40 my wife was uncomfortable enough without any wheeling but some scenic logging roads would have been cool. I'll keep that in mind.

I'm interested about the story of the marble filled bathtub. Would someone care to elaborate?

As if it needed explanation? I'll wager it's kind of therapeutic laying on all those warm marbles with a rubber duckie to squeeze every once in a while......

No explanation needed; just looked out of place to have a bathtub partially filled with blue marbles out in the middle of no where. Must be a western thing.

Interesting!
