Thought iy might have been a '67, but the serial being 10661 put it in April of 1968.

Yep first year but 1968 model year started in I believe November of 1967. At least that's what Specter shows in their number guide.

Tried to tackle the right front brake drum, that turned into a cluster. The front wheel cylinder was frozen solid, so had to order a new one. The rear one is free and I'll rebuild it. Still waiting on the clutch slave so I can install and flush the system. The gasket was mussing under the hun section., its got Selectro hubs. Chased all the bolt holes that mount the hub to the drum , as the were all messed up. Its getting closer, just wants to drag itself as I pull it from the grave. :)

I was too smart to fight my brakes, went and bought a 62 front axle...haven’t touched the damn thing since :frown:

Yeah. The ONLY reason I dealt with my front drums was my 1967 FJ45 has a ball and claw and would have required a whole axle swap.

On that pig I would be swapping the knuckles ASAP

Well I ordered a slave from Rockauto and it came in today. Pulled the slave and the old hose will not fit into the new slave. The thread size was larger and it had the wrong pitch thread. So went to NAPA to see if I could get an adapter, nope. Went out and hammed the piston inward took a brake cylinder hone to it and then pushed out the piston with hydraulic pressure.. Rehoned the back of the cylinder, cleaned up the piston with some 1500 grit, walla it should work.. Do not order Centric 138.44414 its not the correct one for the flex hydraulic line from Rock Auto.

Awesome progress, before you know it she will be going wee wee wee all the way home.

The more you do the less grumpy she gets.

Morning guys still working it. So far all of the wheel cylinders have been frozen. I got three of the four freed up and honed out. Going to work on the fourth today then hit the master cylinder. I will need to replace the axle shaft seals and bearings eventually , found gear case oil in the drums. Will deal with that one project at a time.

I did a compression test the other day and found the highest reading was 145 and lowest 138, so difference of 8psi.. Drained the fuel tank and refilled with some no ethanol fuel. She started and ran high, adjusted the throttle cable and mixture screw. Checked the battery and saw that it was charging. It has an intermittent miss which I think is the ignition. going to replace the wires, I have a new set of points. Plugs were replaced last week.

Nice. Have you checked/adjusted the valve clearance yet?

Im waiting on that, I think I have a coolant leak that I need to track down..

I do have a valve cover gasket, just waiting to see if it a soft plug or a head gasket leaking/seeping outward. My cylinder pressures look good, so don't suspect its leaking inward.

Still working on the brakes, had to replace the master cylinder. But have to change the fitting from 10M to 9M.
