Happy Saturday from Sierra Nevada!

Our Co2 compressor blew - for the entire brewery, so we are pouring from limited numbers of cans. For all 6 bars. I suspect this will come to an end sometime in the next hour or two; and then who knows what from there.

Also, I got called a "f***ing yuppie" multiple times because I wouldn't let someone smoke next to children in a no smoking area. He did say he was going to take me to a NASCAR race, but he didn't sound like much fun. Disappointing; because I would actually go to a NASCAR race.
How did you not let someone smoke? I asked because I had to yell once "listen up you emphysema riddle mutherfooker! put that s*** out or I will drive up your ass until smoke comes out of your ears!" . I was cranky. It works. NASCAR races are great for some, a nightmare for others. When I worked at the largest bank in the US, I would always give out my tickets to anyone. And I raced for years...

Visited the Imperial War Museum while in London the past 8 days for work. Pretty good use of time and free too! Was also educating to get exposure to the British perspective on both WWI and WWII. They (along with the rest of Europe and Asia) bore a lot of the destruction. Years and years of fighting and so many people lost their lives.

Not yota, but still a cool story.
A few years ago, Bill Mulvey came to a 4WD class Tony Cerruto and me where teaching. Bill drove the VW Synchro with a granny gear. He was fine until the obstacle course, we saw him starting to get nervous to the point he just wanted out of the class. We calmed him down, talking to him, reassuring him, and reminding him that "today is all about you, you are all we are focused on and we will work within your limits to make you better". He started to relax, but still nervous. That's when Tony Cerruto, the grand master of working with people, got on the passenger side and took Bill away from the class to some milder terrain, and slowly continue to build Bill's confidence and skill. By the end of the day, Bill was asking, literally, "when is the next class!". He was loving it that much.

As I remember, Bill was retired librarian from a Raleigh high school district who saved enough to buy this van so can travel and explore the US. Yesterday Bill send an email to Mike Michael Morrison, Tony Cerrutothanking us for giving him the knowledge, and I know Tony gave him the courage, to actually drive his dream. I, am humbled.

Nice.... I used to go there on days in between classes if I had nothing else to do.

Pro-tip, every national museum in the UK is free. If you are still there and love history, you may not find a better museum in the world than the British Museum.

Good to know on the free. I also went to the Bank of England museum, it was maybe a block away from where I was staying.

Back home now...the damn hot weather followed me over there and then back home!

Kinda wrenching ... but more of a rave than a rant so itll land here. Ive also been experiencing home AC issues at my fathers house and wanted to send a shout out to Rafael and Rice for the assistance in parts sourcing and knowledge last week. Invaluable and though the issue is not 100% fixed I now know whats not broken and was able to at least get one unit back online.

Replaced both run and start capacitors and relays on both units for less than a service call and managed not to shock myself in the process. You guys rock!

Last service tech left this mess of non oem parts lol. Lasted less than 9 mos.

my capacitors seemed to only last 2 years, it was almost like clock work every other summer when I first got to switch the AC on i'd have to replace it. Now with no AC its something I don't have to worry about anymore.

GLTHFJ60 this is it baby!

When my dish washer went on the blink a few years ago I pulled the base plate off and looked and felt around underneath. Guess what was so hot it literally burned my hand? This:

It's a start capacitor for the dishwasher motor.

I took it off, bridged the poles with an insulated screwdriver and no pop or zap. I decided to replace it just to see if it was bad. It was. Cost me $13 at Grainger. Dishwasher was up and running the next day. I think most folks would have bought a new dishwasher.

It's somewhat remarkable how dependent we are on a device invented (discovered) in 1745 and how incredibly simple the device is. Still, modern technology would halt without it. I guess you could say that among the electronic devices we use today this one is ... in charge. :D

Did the same at my place. $18 to fix and the tech charged me $175. I have paid $175 every 3 years for past 15 years. Complete BS.

Wow! Haven’t seen @Rice around in a while, but he comes charging back with some history and a high amperage pun.

So...hotel. Park in front of room. Second floor. Next room over has a charcoal grill chained to the guardrail. Anything I should be scared of tonight? It wasn't warm, so I'm hoping he's not waiting for me to go to sleep before practicing his lock picking and butchery skills.

Ummm, pretty sure any 'hotel' that has personal belongings chained to a room location is worrisome........
