I'm trying to decide if I like Isuzu Troopers or not. I've seen a couple of these in Charlotte the past few weeks and I want to like them but I'm not sure.

They are good trucks. I know a couple of folks who have these trucks and have beat the snot out of them as hunting hunting trucks and they have held up reasonably well.

I don't know whether to start a thread, but thought here was a good place to share. In case you ever want/need a dealer's assistance and work, I highly recommend Scott Clark Toyota in Charlotte. I knew the cruiser was due for another timing belt (187K); however, was politely reminded by Shane Crow, one of Scott Clark's assist service managers when I had an oil change on September 17. I had just left work in Mint Hill and was trying to high tail it to the mountains for my one day off in 14 days. Fast forward to the weekend, a change of plans, and remembering ONSC parts discount and I scheduled it for Monday September 21 prior to my drive back to Ohio the following day and after a mad dash to the coast to see Mary's family for less then 24 hours. All went fine with timing belt replacement including replacing all belts, crankshaft seal, and water pump replacement, while they were in there. The following morning at 5:15 AM I drove from Mt Pleasant down to Charlotte Douglas airport to drop Mary off at the airport for her to fly to work, I noticed my RPMS were erratic and extremely high at 70 mph while on I85. I had just told Mary I was taking the cruiser back to Scott Clarks to figure out what the **** they had screwed up, when as I drive up the off ramp onto Bill Graham PKWY in the middle turning lane with rush hour traffic. I near the intersection and the light turns red. I stop. Dead stop, that I didn't cause with the brakes, nor accelerator. Mary flagged down a ride, I had the cruiser towed and nearly avoided being hit from all sides by IDIOTs. After examination, head mechanic who had done the work came out and showed me the high pressure line to the transmission cooler had rubbed over the years and finally ruptured. Shane made sure Scott Clark paid the bill as it was something they should have seen/caught the previous day when they had cruiser in there. While the 5 hour delay turned my day into a 20 hour day of travel with my 18 mo old, Scott Clark went above and beyond in my opinion with customer service, quality work, and applying the ONSC discount to parts.

good to see our sponsors helping you out. There is a reason they are the 2nd biggest yota dealer in the country.

should have called while you were stranded.... Could have picked you up for some food/drink

Depends on your perspective. There's definitely more value in an unmolested original (to a collector).

Personally I would go go the unmolested original, given that a Resto/Mod can be built from almost anything. I think the price on the original is far too high but that is what people think 60/62s are worth these days. Lots of people trying to cash in on the current wave. It'll be interesting to see where prices are say 24 months out. You've heard of the housing bubble right?

Then there is his a****** selling a butchery of a truck for 125k. But then again there's another one out there that will buy it and throw off values even more.

But I guess everyone knows the tokyo rose. I mean its the fastest 40 in the world so maybe its worth something.

Toyota : Land Cruiser FJ40

Classic Craig's sells tactics too. Non current pics. Has bumper but will be changed before sale. Only thing missing is runs great. Might need an engine line.

EZ credit, Baby!
Nothing's too expensive when money is free.
We should probably all sell our rigs now and by them back for 1/2 price in a few years when 'the bigger fool' buying trend has exhausted itself.

The transmission is a "Hemi"... uh huh...

:(
That article makes me sad.

With the slant the author put on the issue, most people who read this will conclude that diesels are bad and all manufacturers cheat.
What I took away from it was, so far, ONLY Volkswagen has been caught cheating and all other manufacturers comply with the standards as written.

It's like EPA mileage estimates posted on the windows of new vehicles. Yes, if I go exactly 55 mph on a perfect patch of perfectly level pavement with a slight tailwind and an empty car, I will achieve the mileage posted. In the real world we all go 75 mph or so, carry stuff, put all-terrains on, etc...this doesn't mean the manufacturers are cheating or lying.

Anyway, I suppose I'm preaching (or whining) to the choir here, so I'll go back to work now.

One more thing, I'd love to see the science behind the conclusion that diesels have been murdering people.

I am with you there, thinking we now live in the air bubble glutten-free peanut allergy infected priviledged society that must have super stringent testing to protect our innocent situational ignorant fragile people, while the rest of the world use diesels that burn Yak s*** and continue with life without excuses. Rant over.

Should have never sold my golf diesel.... probably worth now $125K, like them special Cruisers.
