Pet transport service they have a Mercedes Van air conditioned and they are insured. Each dog requires a health certificate as well. We are only sending half in the transport the others will go in the 80 and the Penske with us. The wife is already in AZ she drove the 100 out there with one of the dogs she is flying back in a couple of weeks and is going to drive the 80 and I will drive the Penske towing the 60 on a car hauler. We are going to ship the BMW.
Let me know when you get out here. I should be out this way for another month or 2. About 2 hours north of you.

sweet... we thought about shooting down to OR for the 100% but Andrea is sadly not going to be able to get the time off. In the end its good we get to avoid the nightmare that will be getting down there and back and at 93% i'm fine sipping some Whisky on the roof and watching it.

I figured it would be the best reason for my wife's maiden voyage in our teardrop camper. Beach trip isnt a bad idea. I'm hoping the crowds wont be stupidly insane in size

and since its chat... the nonofficial song of the eclipse.

not sure about back east but I know every campsite in Oregon has been booked for over a year. Couple local cruiser guys are going to head east into some of the unending fire roads in OR to watch it, that was our plan but it involved driving through the night to avoid the traffic from Canada and western WA.

Make sure you have the good glasses though i've seen tons of reports lately about fake glasses being sold that would really mess up your eyes.

we got our glasses directly from NASA at EAA Airventure at Oshkosh. If they arent the real deal, I dont know what is.

I was surprised that there were still vacancies at this campground. It was our 2nd choice, but thats ok.

We met a couple at Oshkosh who lives in Idaho next to the Tetans. He said that their town has 1 stop light and 3 gas stations, and they were saying there would be anywhere from 15000 to 60000 people descending on the town to watch it. He also said that a Japanese scientific company signed a lease over 15 years ago with one of his friends, to rent out his entire 150 acre ranch. They are bringing in portapotties, water trucks, made some gravel roads, and will be repairing any damage done to the place. I think they also did several concrete pads for large telescopes, which the rancher will convert to barns after they leave.

On the news this morning, they said given the path of this eclipse, it will be the most widely seen event of its type in history. That, and $8.00 may get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks

They said to go grocery shopping before the weekend. So many people coming to Charleston, it will be worse than a hurricane. I'm going tonight.

I got a piece of welding visor glass (shade 13) coming from MSC, wayyyy cheaper than a pair of paper glasses.

Yeah my 4 pairs of "FREE" NASA glasses cost me about $7000 for the camper, $350 in fuel, $438 for camping and tickets, about $150 in food, and $130 for a hotel bill when we didnt want to camp on the drive up.. but most of that is tax deductable, so its all good.

@dbenke Where would be a good spot on the beach to view? We will be staying on the NW side of Charleston, at Oak Plantation Campground. Does Kiawah have public access? We've got a handicap placard for my wife that I wont feel bad about deploying. I know there are a couple of astonomy club viewing party things at Santee Park, and I think one near Mt Pleasant.
