Forgot I never posted this a while back, realized tcase leaks into trans so I whipped up a bypass. $20 banjo fittings and a spare piece of hose and it’s done. I’d like to get some oem spring clamps at some point but it’s fine for now.

How would I know if the tcase is leaking into the trans?

I believe that one way is to remove the fill plugs. If gear oil gushes out, and the other is low, a transfer is likely occurring. They should both be full when there is only a slight dribble from each fill plug.

Pull the trans fill plug - if fluid leaks out the seal failed. Then check tcase fill plug for fluid level, should be low if trans is overfilled.

Ha! Thanks - the air cleaner is absolutely my favorite along with the crossover bracket on the valve cover. All I need to find is the support bracket for the airbox....which is seriously impossible to find, might have to mock up and make one.

So I googled “very large ultrasonic cleaner“ (which I’m assuming is needed to clean a manifold) and I think I paid less for my ‘65 cruiser than for one of those, except for the Amazon Chinese knockoff ones. Wow.

Chinese is all you need for a hobbyist.

All done now. I love how the interior gets completely clean as well.

Mattressking, what's your favorite brew for ultrasonic on aluminum? I have a similar size unit, and I haven't found any cleaners that will leave aluminum that shiny, most will dull the finish.

I think overall 1.5hrs. I had to flip two times to get the entire manifold immersed so it took longer for that.

Distilled water and simple green pro HD right now....I also need to test aluminum brightener for trucks and the professional chemdip as well, just haven't got to them, simple green does pretty well and is easy cleanup.

Just a heads up, be careful with any simple green on aluminum with the exception of the aircraft grade stuff. It can corrode aluminum if not completely washed off or left on too long.

Learned this when I was restoring vintage aluminum travel trailers.

Correct - don't use simple 'green'. You have to use Simple Green Pro HD which is blue and safe for aluminum - I and the bottle don't recommend 50/50 mix; 60/40 or 70/30 is best.

Went down to Texas thanks to @CenTXFJ60 where we spun some wrenches and caught up with some folks like @bottombracket and @The Phoenician . Came home to some newly zinc'd and powdered parts. My gear reduction starter also showed up along with some fresh hardware so I popped it in. Unfortunately my new battery cable is now a little short so a 27" version is on the way. Fortunately I had some super clean connectors for the starter laying around so the swap is mindless. For now I will leave the secondary Black/White wire unplugged but if I find it needs a little extra juice I think I will relay it....more to follow.

If I'm lucky I will swap the manifold over this weekend and put on the new zinc parts....we'll see how froggy I'm feeling.
