Ok, LC 100's are tough to find. How hard is it, to make a 470 have Toyota LC badges?

I'm a Toyota man
Not a Lexus
But there are many more 470's to choose from

Has anyone else changed the badges in the rear and the front grille so that to the casual observer, they would think I am a Toyota Landcruiser and not a foo-foo Lexus

No joke.
Clearly there is a premium for an LC over an LX, so I am not alone in this thought.

Just trying to expand my search, as decent LCs are scooped up quick (and then flipped a month later) grrrrr!

Curious if anyone had an LX where they put up Landcruiser badges instead

Lexus - Wikipedia

"Lexus (レクサス? Rekusasu) is the luxury vehicle division of Japanese car maker Toyota. The Lexus marque is marketed in more than 70 countries and territories worldwide[1] and has become Japan's largest-selling make of premium cars. It has ranked among the 10 largest Japanese global brands in market value.[2] Lexus is headquartered in Nagoya, Japan. "

Note to OP: Lexus IS a 'Toyota'. Think of an LX470 as a pimped out Land Cruiser. ;)

I agree with you.
If I lived in Deep East Texas, I'd roll with a Lexus
You're in Ford/Dodge country

But here in SoCal, I am not the same as a lot of these folks who drive a Lexus

It's like if you knew someone with a classic $50k car vs a new $50k car
Who would you be more likely to want to talk to?

I like how lazy the concept of "Badge engineering" got through the 90s and 2000s. I wish we had a fun lexus/toyota hybrid badge like the Saaburu logo for the Saab 9-2x aero. I occasionally refer to mine as the Lex-Cruiser since 90% will not know what an LX470 is but might at least have heard of a Land Cruiser.

Not sure about the Land Cruiser premium, but if there is one it is likely because of no AHC or because they made fewer of them. I wouldn't worry about it myself, but to each his/her own, I guess.

Yeah, forgot about the importance of that 'Image' and persona thing in Kali.

In Texas we just 'roll' with whatever we feel like, don't really give a damn what other folks think. ;)

I live on a Working Cattle Ranch (no joke), we choose to drive a Toyota Land Cruiser and an LX470 for my wife. Neighbors have never commented one way or the other, nor would I care. But I can appreciate...it might be different in SoCal.

I was waiting for it.
The Kalifornia attack.:D

You don't care about your "image" in texas
So you don't wash your clothes or have a mirror in your home?
:grinpimp:

And I found a thread.
Here's my favorite pic

I have enough trouble trying to convince people it's not a 4Runner/Highlander/Land Rover :meh:

I do find it interesting that you care so much. Personally, I have two awesome middle fingers, and they're constantly chambered for a lucky a***ole.

I cannot believe this thread exists. Land Cruiser definitely does not pull a premium over an LX around here in Chicago. At worst, they are the same price on the used market.

I notice LC's disappearing more quickly. I think either those really on the hunt may not want systems like AHC (98-99 LC's with the locker go fast, for sure). Another thing I think about is if I recall many more LX's were sold in the early years. I suspect this vehicle's price point was more fit for Lexus buyers and a Toyota buyer was probably more likely to get a 4Runner at the time. I still think that's true today...

I ended up with a 470 because they are often in much better shape and have been well maintained ( some people are very particular about getting their Lexus services on every interval ). This is not a slight against LC owners, they use their trucks more. Great for them bad for me :) Simply put the a majority of the LX470s have seen little if any 4x4, they are almost an off roading time capsule. Since I was buying a nearly 20 year old truck I did not want one that has been "all over". I wanted to be the one to break it in.
