Ok, LC 100's are tough to find. How hard is it, to make a 470 have Toyota LC badges?

Hey, when you grow up around 40s and 60s, you have an affinity for the word Landcruiser.
Thanks for all the responses, pics, and stories.
I sure do love Mud.

I think the 100 forum has a slightly different vibe then 60 or 80 forums.
Damn Millennials!

So I apologize.
I didn't realize calling Lexus "foo foo" would trigger some of you
I will try to keep a Lexus safe space in the forum entitled "100 Series Cruisers"
:flipoff2:

"Safe Space" says the guy too sensitive to drive around with an "L" ;)

Projector headlights, active height control, folding mirrors and a nicer interior?
Already have projectors, definitely don't want AHC on a trail rig, won't have door mirrors with no doors, and hopefully a lot less interior :p

I do dream of a Lexus street monster though...

This is a chat-tastic thread.

Technically speaking if you require and LC I would buy the LC as replacing the LX front clip and all the other little clues to make it look like an LC is not going to be cost effective. Image aside, best truck for least $$ is usually the LX, not the LC, the LX is quieter, has better lights and has often been serviced regularly with little regard for cost by the PO.

I bought the best I could find and it happened to be a Lexus. I added Ironman Suspension and the rest you can see. It impressed me on any trail i tried in Moab. My buddy did write "not a Lexus" on his LC. I did find LX springs were smaller and I have seen sound proofing, trim detail and door insulation are an upgrade on the LX.

Dont be afraid to be "better" in a LX.

(yes, I did consider some badging change at one time too. Its just always been in my head that I an a "Landcruiser" guy.

VERY nice LX there WDukes! When you removed the AHC, did you go with a lift at all? What is the tire size on those KO2s?

Millennials can't afford Hundys, be they LX or LC.
:flipoff2:

But speaking as a guy running dual badges, I think you cannot escape the Lexus-ness of the LX470. Even if you replace all the badges, the headlights and grill scream Lexus. I was not originally a fan of the LX front end, but it has grown on me. I would argue that the LC front end is painfully bland. Some here have suggested that it resembles a Subaru Forester. Ultimately, without bigger tires and bumpers, both the LX and LC varieties look gentrified compared to an 80 or 60--and they are.

I'm a pink panty LX drivin Millennial ;)

I couldn't agree more on the front end. I often find myself eyeing what I believe is a 100 land cruiser coming towards me from a distance only to find that it was a forester or even an explorer.

I removed the AHC...you will find info on that in many places.
I did get the Ironman springs with 2.5" of lift, torsion bars and the Ironman Pro Foam shocks. The tires are 295 75/16 KO2 AT

Personally I think the lx much nicer looking than the LC and the Interior is quite a bit nicer.

But LX's here are always more expensive than a LC and I got my 100 for a screaming deal.

These are not easy to come by, since even in other global markets the Toyota Cygnus became the Lexus Cygnus and got the "L" as well.

A third option, which is what I'm planning on switching to, is to own the Lexusness (Lexicity?) and just badge it as an overseas Lexus Land Cruiser Cygnus:

You get the Land Cruiser badge so you don't have to keep explaining that it's an upgraded LC, you have the simplicity of keeping the "L" and you get to keep the dignity of having actual, real vehicle model nomenclature.
AFAIK, the Cygnus was only sold in Japan under the Toyota name brand. Around the world, many folks, importers and used car dealers, slapped the Lexus badge on imported JDM 100's. The dead giveaway for most is the steering wheel airbag will still say Toyota due to expense.

Just work on the insecurity issues and stop worrying about the opinions of others.

^^^^^ There's your answer folks!

IF you are driving a certain vehicle for the express purpose of projecting an 'image', you have issues.

IF your (friends? or associates) would think badly of you because you drive a certain vehicle, you need NEW friends/associates.

Buy and drive what suits YOUR tastes, needs, wants and budget. Its all very simple.

When we were searching for 100 series we looked at both and got a better deal on an LX and are super happy with it. Tomato Tomatoe.

Same thing here. I was looking for a straight up Land Cruiser, but found that in my Market (Houston area), LX470's were abundant, were in MUCH better condition, had better service history (on average) and were LESS money with LESS mileage than the L/C's I could find.

Simple choice for me. I have not regretted it. Found a '99 that is neat as a pin. Wife loves it.

I'm with @DocuDude. I've had 5 Land Cruisers over the years. And I really wanted a 100 series LC. But, Lexus are way more plentiful than Land Cruisers. I probably wouldn't have been overly concerned about the badging except mine was gold and to me, it stuck out like a silver spoon. As others have suggested, I went with the TEQ badges from www.bh3dprinting.com. My daughter gets more questions about what it is than I do. She tells them it was developed by collaboration between Russia, North Korea and Dennis Rodman.

Before I knew about ih8mud, I shopped around for a 100 series LC in '15. I thought the front of the LX was hidious then. They reminded me of a fly. A LC was hard to find and expanded my search to a LX, but then I finally found a LC I wanted to bring home. I knew the interior was nicer, but simply preferred the looks of the LC. The name is also a lot cooler. :) After learning about this site, the looks of LX grew on me a whole lot. I love them both. My point is that I just wanted a clean and well taken care of 100 series.

For the record, I'm not bashing on the LX. If I'd do it all over again, I'd look for the best overall "100 series" I could afford.

They are both great vehicles no need to bash each other guys. The Lexus has some nice upgrades some people prefer the Toyota!

I watched the classifieds in the SF Bay Area for over a year before pulling the trigger on a LC. The LX are much more readily available and cheaper. I liked the looks of the LC better and didn't want some of the stuff that comes on the LX. For me the LC is more desirable. For a 200 series I really don't like the looks of the LX.
