Looking for a 4 speed transfer case - my marlin modified case from 1997 has a hitch in it's giddy up and I'd like to put a stock unit back in it's place. Located around Charlotte but frequently drive to Raleigh.

Thanks!!

Still in search of a t-case... who's hording one they want to part with?

40 series case? Or 80 series.
I presume 40 but could be read as 97 case

Sorry, good question - Yes, ISO 40 series case. Thanks!

Core or ready to run unit?
Ready to run preferably... I have a core unit with unknown issues. Since it was one of the units modified by Marlin back in the '90's have been told it's a boat anchor... A $2K in 1995 money boat anchor.

Hmmm, wonder why. It's just bearings, gears, and shafts. I guess if a gear or shaft is toast, that makes sense. But, it might have desirable upgrades if you can fix it. I think Marlin was doing something like 3:1 gears for the 4sp case at one time.

Yup, this one is 3.46:1 so it’s pretty low. I’d like to fix it and will drop it this weekend to see if I can figure out the problem. It’s got a “stiff spot” in its forward rotation - if you rotate it by hand half the rotation is easy and the other half requires all your strength. That manifests itself as a lurch in the drive shaft at low speed and is beating up the ring and pinion.

appreciate any ideas the group has!

I agree with @mtweller, a transfer case isn't a differential. As long as the casting is in good shape (no cracks, bearing bores round, etc), it's salvageable. I used to work for Dana in Statesville; I've built several thousand differentials and drive steer axles. I'd take a transfer case rebuild any day of the week; it's really no harder that a front knuckle, especially a 40 case.

If it's a Marlin supplied gear that is junked then like Jeff mentions it's probably trash and easier to start fresh with a stock case. Marlin isn't the best at continuing to produce parts for previous offerings...especially for the 40 series. e.g. Toybox

It's all a guess until someone opens up the case for inspection.

WTB-Yakima 1a raingutter mounts. Need 6 but would settle for 4. Load bars if you have them, any size.
This what i found. Towers do not look right. You are welcome to crossbars. They are 66 inches.

If they are the mounts that came off my 100 they are not raingutter mounts...they mount to the factory rails. I need to get some more for my GX if I don’t end up doing a full rack.
