Mother-in-law pragmatism FTW! I am with her.
George, I know you have a great deal of time in this patchwork but you might still want to consider ripping it out and replacing with a whole panel. The amount of body massaging and skim work that will be required to smooth this will surely cost more in labor than the price of these panels...and with these panels you won't have to worry about bondo flaking off or welds cracking, etc. I'm trying to remember what your passenger side looked like. I know the DS was much worse than the PS. If I were you, I'd get the panels and install them. Chalk up the time and effort you spent in the patches to plain old good experience. Now that you know what you're doing you should be able to weld these new panels in with confidence and increased proficiency. You will end up with a better job overall. Do what you want but I know what I would do. Heck, I thought about buying those panels just to cut them up for fender lip patches for my 40. My fenders have been mangled and the carnage hides behind flares. Some day (when money allows) the Crockpot will go back to a stock-ish look with 33's, factory steelies, uncut fenders and a proper paint job. These panels are too good to hack up though and I can get the patch pieces I need for about the same money.
