No. Correcting the offset (I had it set to 0.600) did not make a difference. In case there are any CHIRP wizards out there, here are my current settings:
Try turning off the tone squelch (just delete 131.8) to receive. Put 107.2 in the Tone cell beside W4UNC if you want to talk to the repeater.
You might also want to delete that S in the Skip cell, it makes it skip that memory slot when scanning which is good for weather stations but not great for repeaters.
That's just from my poor memory but I can compare to my file when I get home. We'll get it working.

I wanted to post up here for any experienced help finalizing my HAM setup in the 80 series. I've got a YAESU 857 and below is the list of additional items I am going to need to finish it. I've sent an email to Ham Radio Outlet essentially with the same list asking for their advice, so you all will be graded. If anyone has a setup in CLT that I could come check out I would appreciate it. My biggest question right now is mounts for the antennas (Yotateq?) and getting the wires into the cab. Where do you mount the radio versus the face plate? Thanks in advance for any experience/help.

Rugged Radios are race radios that have gotten popular lately in all kinds of motorsports. If you go check them out, they look exactly like baofengs, but blue instead of black. A few times I've tried to figure out which bands/frequencies they're on, because they have to be 2M/70cm, but I always failed. Today, I looked again, and found the frequency charts.

Good info but be careful on those frequencies. Rugged Radios has been issued a citation by the FCC for selling some of those radios. The way I understand it they have a business license on some/all of those frequencies but there are other issues. Those licenses are mostly regional not nationwide and have many other legitimate businesses who paid for their spot you might be interfering with. Ham license doesn't cover these frequencies.
It's not 100% technically legal but the best way I know of to not cause trouble is take that Beofeng and program in FRS maybe GMRS or MURS frequencies and have fun. There seems to be some growth in the number of people using GMRS for trails.

How did everyone's winter antenna projects go?

Quick antenna project. I had moved my antenna from the hatch to the edge of the hood last year because I felt like it, and I somehow ripped it off the truck at CMCC this year. No clue when it happened, but it was completely ripped off and somehow didn't damage any of the sheetmetal around it.
Found this new style that surface-mounts to sheetmetal, so I stuck it on the hood. Should be harder to rip off of this spot. Just drill a 3/4" ish hole, slot the lower half of the NMO mount through the hole, and the outer half screws on to clamp it onto the sheetmetal. Seems sturdy, we'll see how well it works.

I drilled a hole in the roof of my Tacoma, haven't regretted it a bit. But always forgetting to remove the antenna before entering parking garages.
