Conspiracy.

Great. Now I am an outlaw x 2. Guns and Baeofang radios. Gonna get 10 to life every time I leave the driveway.

I was going to say "they can have my Baofeng when then pull it from my cold dead hands."

I guess in addition to being a Bro-verlander - now I am a Bro-Ham.

The ARRL is now fighting the FCC on the Baofengs. Don't throw yours away, yet.

what about my Wouxun?

You might want to check - the "rub" is the Baofeng's can listen in on non-amateur channels.

The Wootang Clan radios are sometimes banded differently - might not even be an issue.

Looks like a lot of the Wouxun get into the emergency ranges . . similar boat possibly?

I don't know - I consider myself among the worst HAM operators in the country. I need to stop posting here . . .

Naa Amateurs i worry about, are the ones talking about Mars modding the HF rigs to talk on CB... and they do this on the repeater... God help them..

I am keeping my 2 Bafangools just in case. I still think they are a great "first timer" learning radio, and a useful radio to keep in the truck. Low cost, easy to CHIRP program, and if they die, they die. Cheaper than my Yaesu FT2D battery! Recommended them as late as this past weekend. I heard they where going up in price, but I still find them for $25 on Amazon.

Anyone help with DSTAR... I just got an ID-51 and Zumspot but can't actually get working/linked to a reflector. FM worked great on the ID-51, great range and I love the radio!!

@Izzyandsue I saw that you were on the 054 reflector I was trying to link into? I think the radio is setup okay, but I'm not positive the Zumspot is making the connection. On the pi-star dashboard, I have yet to see it "connected" to a reflector...

Thanks all for the help.

I havent used a Zumspot, only a Raspberry Pi one and it was plug and play. Once I plugged it into my router and selected the 2 meter band, it just worked. Post on the Overland Radio facebook page, someone there must have used one

Humm the zumspot has a Pi base to it but I can't get it right. I thought it might be how I had my name and callsign typed into the radio. Thanks though I'll post to that page

Mmmmm ham AND raspberry pi, this thread gets tasti

Got it working! Of all things it was because my DSTAR online registration was not complete.

You don't know the half of it, I went to my first Ham Fest in March, you wouldn't believe the chicks that go to these events. Just, unbelievable.

Not sexy, unbelievable. Then ideas they come up for their oxygen tanks and wheeled Walmart carts are beyond belief

Jamie - we need to form a sub-group for "Worst HAM Operators in the Country". My credentials in this area are pretty strong...

Request for assistance from the more learned members of this forum: I finally was able to get CHIRP communicating with my Baofengs (models UV-5R and BF-F8HP) and programmed the radios based upon the very finest Youtube instructional videos. Problem - I can receive the NOAA broadcast off the UNC tower, but cannot receive or broadcast to the W4UNC repeater on the same tower. I cannot get any other area repeater for that matter. Would anyone be willing to review screenshots of my CHIRP settings to determine if there are any obvious missettings? Otherwise I am planning to attend the Saxapahaw meet on 2/22 - will buy your breakfast in return for tech support!

BTW, do have my technicians' class license (KK4VOU).
