One advice. Before you start the burn-money on mods, baselining and add-ons to the LX, go drive a 700 first. Yes, it is cozier than the 570s, but man the added tech in terms of convenience, safety and capabilities is 1000% worth it. If you have the means, just go for it. I doubt your wife would be able to roll it with all the safety tech added to it and I bet you it will do every trail your old modded GX would. Basically, it is the same safety tech as the TX, but in a Land Cruiser. Can't go wrong with that.
I did test drive one a few weeks ago. I stomped the pedal only one time but HOLY CRAP that new engine scoots.

Didn’t test the safety features like the Lane Centering stuff though.

Maybe the interior will grow on me, but I’m 6’3” 250lbs and felt like I was in a cockpit more than a command center like the LX570.

I am lucky enough to have a financial plan in place to swing a new LX700h Overtrail once I get some settlement money from 3M around October. Plan to wipe all consumer debt first and should have enough to put 25% down if I go that route.

I still wouldn’t want her to drive it though. This would be a “forever car” that I would be buried in.

It’s not tesla advanced but to me is pretty effective and allows me to literally drive double the mileage when compared to my old 200 and be half tired.

Ahm I see. Yeah. I can see why you felt cramped inside. You def have significant more space in the 570, which is important considering your frame. It’s a hard spot to be cause it’s a phenomenal truck.

I bet an LX570 at 1/3 of a price with $8k S/C will scoot just as quick if not quicker, if that is what you are after ;) All while having a proven V8 and no hybrid stuff to deal with in "forever".

Ay!
I can confirm this is true. Just drove a 700h and have a 570 with SC.

So what I hear you saying is, I need to buy two more LX570s and supercharge all three, right?

If you are doling out free rides with that S/C in Texas, I live near Tyler!

Edit: My goal now is to have two LXs. One for offroading adventures with the family that I can pass down to my 4 sons someday, and the other would be a long distance road tripper/daily driver. Originally I was going to keep the GX470 and pass it on, but my wife and I want to keep our current cars because 3 of them will be driving age in the not so distant future.

that have been continuously getting worse as time goes by
Not the case at all. Don't be led to conclusions by all these youtubers and influencers salivating for clicks. Not to mention some bots here and in other forums. Toyota/Lexus implemented a fix with an improved bearing for the V35As. AFAIK, all 700Hs were produced after the fix and there is not one single documented case of an LX 700H having the issues the Tundras and GXs had.

I was confused by this..

The first was in May 2024, and the second was in November 2025. The engines involved in this new recall were produced using additional controls for removing manufacturing debris. We have found that, even after these additional controls, the remaining debris could be sufficient to cause damage to the #1 main bearing and lead to this issue. Engines produced after those included in this recall were manufactured with an improved #1 main bearing to help resist certain debris that might remain.

So is it safe to say engines not on any of these recalls have a newer bearing?

The key is in this sentence.

To my knowledge, all LX700s were produced with the refereed improved main bearing and thus free from the potential issue caused by the debris. Also, bear in mind, this problem addressed by the recalls happened with a small percentage of V35As when you think about the total production numbers.

Anyway, LX700s should all have the improved bearing, so no reason to think they will suffer from the previous issues plaguing some of the V35As pre-improved bearing.

It is my understanding that the "fix" was not fully implemented until October of last year for those engines, and the hybrid models across the Toyota/Lexus lineup were only omitted because the hybrid motor allows them to move under their own power if there is a catastrophic engine failure. So there recall criteria is a legal/safety CYA for Toyota, not a testament to the quality of the engines with the hybrid powertrain.

So I would be looking for a build date after October 2025 if I was buying one.

How can you have Continuous Improvement if you don’t screw up once in a while.

This sort of confusion is what bothers me about the new trucks. I need to know
1. this has been fixed
2. what year/model/when.

Sorry @MRego but I don't care if it's only a small percentage. If i am spending 120K on a flagship model from Lexus, I need to know my engine is not going to grenade in the middle of nowhere. it's not like a cam tower leak.
Some things are zero tolerance for me.

Only for the Alabama plant that produces the Tundras. My understanding is that at Tahara plant (where the LXs are produced) they started with the improved bearings way before October 2025.

You are 100% right and I think just the same.

There is a pretty informative video (below) that this problem might not really be solved. The bottom line is this engine config isn't proven long term...period. The 5.7 has definitely been proven and any problems that go along with it is known, documented and can be accounted for. The V35A, not so much.

Like I said, youtubers yearning for your clicks. Anyway, we are veering pretty far from this thread. Y'all can go to the 300 forum and check there. Plenty of discussion, including this clip and others.
