Geez....Before spending any money on modifications, you should suggest that both of you (gotta do it together or there might be some offense taken) "for safety reasons", take a defensive driving course.

A dashcam is a necessity at this point.Wow. I hope you get to the bottom of it. Until then, it would be off limits to the man toys and she gets to drive a 5 star crash rated shoebox.
Maybe put in a 3 camera Wolfbox mirror dash cam and see what's actually going on?
Man I am so sorry about your wife's struggles. It's hard to watch a partner languish.Buy her a sherman tank and just send flyers out to the rest of the neighborhood "stay clear of the tank." Sorry for your troubles homie--my wife has had some significant medical-related decline over the past decade too (who doesn't?). Hang in there and keep being a good man![]()
Yea I’ve been running 2 20mm spacers in the top of the rear springs for years.Have you augmented/preloaded the rear springs with spring spacers to handle more load? Recommend 20mm all the way to 50mm if necessary. You can adjust the jounce stop within the coil spring by using a spacer above it in between the frame, or just augment the spring directly by using a spacer between the spring and jounce stop.
I added a 10mm spacer to each spring at the rear axle. Intent is to add a bit more support to the AHC system, as I tow a heavy 27' Airstream travel trailer. This exact same mod could be done to an LC too, but will result in lifting ~1/2".
While the LX570 never asked for it, this is a well established mod carried over from the 100-series LX470. I had added spacers to my LX470, to bring AHC neutral calibration pressure back to stock and to support more load as I towed with that car also.
I'm not being as thorough here as I could hookup techstream to see where the pressures are. Note...

You can also control compression travel using the damper adjustment. Rather than just using comfort, for faster pace stuff, I may use sport off-road to manage compression.
I'm not a fan of the Timbren stuff. They seems to have limited bushings and just adapt it to vehicles with brackets. I do like Durobumps. They work great and go about their job in a transparent way.
I assumed my rear springs were just old and tired and not supporting the truck through those same spots like it has. Maybe it’s something else.
There is more to it that I dont want to get into here, but this is accident #5 in 2 years.
Yes. It is infuriating and concerning. I am at my wits end with her. There is something going on with her psychologically where I think she may just not be present at times.
The alignment was just performed hours before. I had the low and high speed adjustment dialed. Zero body roll in turns or brake dive. Sway bar in the rear was retained with extended end links. IMO it was not the cars fault.
She drove a lifted GX460 on even taller tires for 2 years, until we traded it in 5 years ago. Zero issues.
She hasn't been the same since she had COVID. Depression. Anxiety. Aggression. Zoning out, etc.
Dont know what to do other than try to be supportive and encourage treatment and therapy.
I firmly believe people need better car handling skills. Folks have ZERO idea on the limits of their car. They give gas, they brake that's it. Ask someone how much distance they need to brake from 0-60, no clue yet they are driving 1 car distance behind in a 6500lb monstrosity.Sorry to hear and wish you guys the best.
Just thinking out loud, as I have a new driver in the household and not that that's exactly the same... I'm putting her in a much different car than my 200 series. Something that is inherently easier to handle has a number of ADAS / driver aids, and generally safer overall with very low rollover risk, and that is a Tesla.

View attachment 4152321I normally ride a motorcycle on my commute if I am not dropping the kids off at school that week, and what's most alarming is how many people are on their phones as they are driving. My bike puts me at eye level with lifted pickups and I can see into everyone's cars as I pass by. I am not saying that was the case with our recent incident, but I have been hit 3 times on my motorcycle involving people on their phones... It's a major factor in a significant amount of accidents that we all pay the price for with rising premiums.
“Sorry, I didn’t see you.” Even before cellphones.View attachment 4152321I normally ride a motorcycle on my commute if I am not dropping the kids off at school that week, and what's most alarming is how many people are on their phones as they are driving. One advice. Before you start the burn-money on mods, baselining and add-ons to the LX, go drive a 700 first. Yes, it is cozier than the 570s, but man the added tech in terms of convenience, safety and capabilities is 1000% worth it. If you have the means, just go for it. I doubt your wife would be able to roll it with all the safety tech added to it and I bet you it will do every trail your old modded GX would. Basically, it is the same safety tech as the TX, but in a Land Cruiser. Can't go wrong with that.Man I am so sorry about your wife's struggles. It's hard to watch a partner languish.
While my GX was at the Lexus dealership they gave us a loaner 2025 Lexus TX and the safety features and lane keeping tech was phenomenal. I really do think she needs those things. She currently has a 2020 Odyssey that my Mom borrowed for a road trip, and I am pretty sure the wreck wouldn't have happened if she was in it instead since it has similar safety technology.
I am a disabled veteran and every day is a battle with my own mental health. This whole week has been a blur of adrenaline and masking frustration, and I am trying to stay positive. Been eating my anxiety meds like M&Ms and I need a break.
If you guys dont mind, I would like to circle back to my new LX and am open to suggestions for first things to check or service on it.
My oldest son pointed out a small star crack in the windshield yesterday. I am thinking modification #1 will be getting UV ceramic film by a window repair shop after they address the crack.
Would also like to start taking steps to bulletproof it like an all aluminum radiator. Any suggestions?
