I don't know this for sure, but suspect that on the 08's with three settings, it's 1=1, 2=3, and 3=5?

Thinking of getting a truck and man the f 150 platinum is freaking nice. The tundra interior feels cheap compared to the ford... But I just don't think ford will be as reliable as toyota what are your thoughts?

I would have agreed with you on the Tundra interiors up until the new 2014s came out. I had an 11 F150 Platinum, and to me the new 14 Tundra interior is just as nice or at least really close to the level of the Platinum Fords or the other 3 brands top end models. I struggle most with the Tundra's older powertrain, no 8 speed, no rear diff options only that low fuel drinking 4.30 setup that I am still shocked that it is the only choice. My LC does much better on fuel with the same engine and trans with AWD, so I am thinking it has to be those that real low gear ratio the Tundra uses with the 5.7.

I'm a fleet manager (amongst other duties) at work. I manage a fleet of about 50 4x4 vehicles that see extreme use. Our Ford F150's have the most issues in our fleet. Our Chevy Tahoes have been fairly reliable, but of course our Toyota Tundras have been problem free. It took an act of congress to get the Tundras in our fleet some years ago, but as long as i am over purchasing, ill continue to add them. Resale is a no brainer.

That's funny, fleet manager is one of my many hats that I wear in our business too. We have about 50 cars and trucks, mainly trucks 1/2 ton - 2 ton. Mostly 2 wheel drive 1/2 tons pickups ext cab 6 ft beds and regular cab 8 ft beds.

I have a mix of several brands, all the trucks are domestic brands FORD, GM, RAM.

We do have some Toyota SUVs and some higher end exec brand vehicles Benz, Lexus, Infinity, Cadillac at the home office.

I see the same thing, the F150s always have higher maintenance cost compared to GM, the ford brakes, power steering, electrical systems in general are crap compared to GM. But Ford and RAM both have functional features that GM lacks when talking regular cab trucks like more interior space which is especially important to our needs where the Regular cabs are concerned.

I have looked at Tundra's many times, great cab space, quality looks to be good, but the Regular cab long bed tundra's cost right at 5 grand more then any of the domestic regular cab trucks 30K for the base work truck Toyota vs 25K for similar optioned RAM's and Fords that I have been buying.

The Tundra extended cabs are not too far off from what pay for the GM or Ford models, maybe 2 grand more, but reliability and resale all considered the GM 1/2 ton extended cabs always seem to win out as my best option in this configuration. Once in while I put a ford in the mix and regret it about 60,000 miles on. I can run a GM truck a 100K and rarely spend anything on repairs.

Right now our last batch of regular cabs were RAMs and my personal 3/4 ton trucks are also Diesel RAMs. Our last batch of ext cabs were all GM Silverado All star value package trucks all great trucks for money only been paying around $28K for nicely optioned ext cab Chevys .

My '08 has crawl control, but I think it's fewer selectable speeds than the current version (pre-2016).

2008-2011 had 3 spd crawl control
2013-2016 have 5 spd

Fixed it....
Haha, well last night as i was driving home on the highway I was scratching my knee and accidently switched on my aux lights on the car in front of me.

We like to drive all over the place and explore, when we do we drop flags of cool S we see, i.e. swimming holes, offroad spots, camping spots etc... So if you like to drop flags and ever wondered how many Mr Toyota gives you, the answer is 100... We are fresh out of flags.. first world problem I know:)

If you disconnect your battery, do you lose all the flags? I know when I disconnected my battery, I lost ALL data in my nav unit; no more addresses, no more numbers, no more radio presets, no bluetooth presets---nothing.

not sure, but now ya got me worried:) I know in my 100 series when we disconnected the battery we did not lose our flags...

Hmm. Maybe there is a small internal battery built into the unit like you see on CPUs?

It's time to buy brake pads.

I assumed I would buy OE replacements from Beno, but just wanted to make sure there wasn't something better out there.

Anyone have any experience with aftermarket pads?

I went back with OE pads back on. The 35's will chew through them all. Its a heavy water buffalo

I went with the TRD pads recently on the front of my LC. They do stop better, but they are way more dirty than the stock pads. I have no idea of how long they will last, I have about 2K miles on them so far.

I've never had issues with the oe brake pads, i know of a lot of people who complain of them overheating too fast but i always downshift and use engine braking so hardly faced those issues

After a 3100 mile round trip and two trips this week to Cincy I'm seriously thinking about picking up some more road friendly tires for my daily driving. I like the trail grapplers and they are great but a man needs two pairs of shoes. How are cooper ST MAXX...anyone have a report on them?

Have you considered KO2.

For what it is worth, I have new 33" Cooper ST Maxx on my 100. Not sure if I would recommend them for quiet comfort road tires. I like them a lot off road, and they handle well on the highway, but they're heavy and growl when coming to a stop...at least compared to the BFG KO's I had before.

My truck is a bit heavy and I tend to carry a lot of weight on top, so as usual, YMMV.

Thank you for the reply. Online reviews and real world are not always one in the same.
