Dang, I usually only get about 17.5 gallons in when I fill up

It's because the fuel light comes on with like 5 gallons to spare. Part of Toyota over design- they didn't want to have anyone on the side of the road out of fuel. It bugs me. I wish the light would go from yellow to orange to red.

Thanks for breaking that down. Great explanation. You must drive like a hyper-miler to get a constant 19 mpg.
I'll pay attention to that now and see what I can achieve.

I do drive it pretty conservatively. I turn right, go about 1 mile along a country road, hit the interstate and set cruise control for the 36 mile to work. I do keep the tires inflated a bit more that most and I am maniacal about the maintenance.

If I want to go fast, Ill break this bad boy out :)

One way to remove a stubborn crank pulley bolt. This was on 2001 Camry.

That is tits Mcgee. Nice looking whip

Tim,

I was wondering if you were ever going to post pictures of that thing on MUD. I do wish you had been in that thing when we met up in Atlanta earlier this year. :D

It would have rocked, but at 7mpg during regular driving on a 19 gallon tank it would have been a fortune!!!!!

She can pump 202 gallons an hour with the triple fuel pumps w/ 135lb injectors. Ive used over a gallon of fuel just in warmup, burnout. 1/4 mile run and return. Gotta love it!

That's gotta be a sub 10 second car, amirite?

Pushing SUB 9. If she would stop eating unlimited axles like candy I could launch it right. Right now I can't get off the clutch with more than 5000rpm before ugly stuff happens. I want to launch at 6500. It's tough since its a manual she doesn't have a trans brake. I drive it to the track on most days. I usually don't swap the tires since they are massive being tubbed, rolled and shortened axles. I do have a set of full on slicks but they bog me off the line. I think next year if i keep it, I'll launch on 22pounds of boost and add a nitrous timer to start at 20' or so. Right now I just spray the intercooler.

After track day,
Turn down the boost with the onboard turbo controllers and drive to the store for a lotto ticket and tasty beverage.

That thing is crazy...would love to see it on the track, and I respectfully call bs on your 19 mpg. ;) Even if I peg mine at 60 on the highway (which of course I never do), I may get 17.5-18. I must be doing something very wrong.

My last trip which was all mountain driving....

I use to get 17 to 20 on all highway trips Depending on the trip.. After installing the ko2's the best I ever got was 16.4 highway mostly getting 15.5....

Those things hammered my mpgs but at the same time my speedo was off with the factory michelins... The tire size Seem to be smaller than what it was suppose to be... at 80 I was really doing 77... At least that is what the flashing radar speed limit sign kept on telling me lol.... Maybe that added some mpgs

What gage wire is our backup camera wired with? I pulled the rear panel apart to have a look but I have no idea what gage wire I need to purchase.
Thanks

What gage wire is our backup camera wired with?

Back up cameras require almost no current, so probably ≈20AWG, but you may be able to remove that section of the wires from the harness without extending it if you're relocating the camera. There are also probably at least three or four wires or conductors as the minimum the camera will need is power, video signal and ground/shield, which may be a combination of two wires or shield for the video signal.

I don't think electrical wiring diagrams are available for 2013's yet...

The range computer estimates it after fillup based on the last average MPG. So if you averaged 12 it will tell you 20x12 = 240 (Low fuel comes on with 4 gallons or so left) It will change up or down after some miles are accumulated on that tank. I have seen 380 one time, but I rarely look at that menu options. I usually see 340ish, but I get pretty solid fuel economy because I am about 90% highway with the cruise control set.

This was all from 1 tank of fuel. 19avg crept up a bit. Ended up with over 400 miles on 21 gallons. Same fuel station, time of day and pretty similar weather conditions.

Got my mojo back. Good info
Thank you

Thinking of getting a truck and man the f 150 platinum is freaking nice. The tundra interior feels cheap compared to the ford... But I just don't think ford will be as reliable as toyota what are your thoughts?

since you asked.....I just sold a 07' tundra with 146000 miles. not one issue. regular mainenance and the thing ran great. still felt tight, no rattles or squeaks, leather looked new. On the other hand, a year ago I bought my wife a 2013 ford escape. Less than a year old, crazy cool new features, beautiful interior. She commutes 100+ miles 4 days a week. Racked up some mile. all highway. At 52K the serpentine belt started to come apart. A strand of the belt got pulled into the timing belt. The crankshaft pulley and cam shaft pulleys are not on a keyway, or splines, or any mechanical means of keeping them in place. The timing got off, and luckily didnt' destroy the engine, but did cause 2100$ in repairs.
Ford couldn't have cared less. didn't help a dime. Said because the causal part was a wear item, nothing was covered.

This may be a unique situation, but given the design, and ford's attitude towards the whole thing. I'll never buy another ford product, and will advise anyone that will listen, what to expect from Ford. Do a search for F150 problems/forums. compare what you find to Tundra forums/issues.
I feel pretty confident you'll find your answer there.

Rant over....thanks for your time.

I wish toyota would step up the game and offer more features like the ford does... I mean these ford guys are dropping 60,000 on a truck... I would do that for a toyota but not a ford... But toyota doesn't even offer half the features that a platinum does...
