I think I'll be tackling this in the next couple weeks, thanks for the write-up.

I am currently doing the install on this. But why is there two hose type clamps with this kit. One is already on the 90 elbow, so what is the other one for. And should I waterproof the joints before I complete this install?
Thanks in advance

Both great questions. It seems like the second hose clamp should go on the other end of the elbow where it joins with the larger piece but it doesn't seem to have a natural groove to fit into and its lacking that little notch cut down from the opening to allow it to tighten. I also have no ideas how you would tighten it in the space inside the fender.

I was a bit dismayed that there seem to be two weak spots for water infiltration: at the fender, where that squarey flange is just pressed against by the foam of the plastic snorkel by your tightening of the bolt on the rear-most bracket. And the connection at the rear of the elbow that's just held together by the whole thing being a snug fit.
The seal at both of these connections seems a bit precarious.

If you can figure a way to seal it up better, please post up.

I didn't waterproof any of the connections.

On the clamps, I honestly cannot recall where the second one goes, even after looking back through my pictures.

I've attached a couple of parts diagrams that might help.

looks good fellas

Thanks for the replys. I think I will try to put it on the elbow.

Success? Do you see what I was talking about re: the seals? One of these days I'm going to head back in there and see if I can improve the seals but I don't know how I'd do it. Especially for the ones that are inside the fender.

Could they just be sealed up with some silicon? The only one that worries me is the one that goes from the fender to the actual snorkel.

Installed mine last week and made 5 copies of the template before I cut out the original. I could mail you a copy? Overall the install was easy once I found a big rivet gun to borrow.

Fergie, do you still have a template or anyone else? I could use one since I just bought an OEM Snorkel in the classifieds and it didn't come with a template.
Sorry for the delayed response.

I do not have the template anymore. The last person I loaned it to has not returned it and it has been quite a while since I had some contact with them.

Thank you to the other folks that have stepped up and offered help with the template; that it why I love the TLC community. Good job guys.

Thanks Kilmarkid!

I got it and I have scanned it for others to use.
Print it out on 11x17 and make sure you check actual size not fit to paper as that could affect the scale of it.

After the Honey Do list yesterday I got a late start and then my broken antenna held me up for way too long! That thing is a 8!t@h to get out when it doesn't go down all the way. Anyway I ended up needing to bend the mast more and then cut the antenna wire to get it out. I plan to go to a windshield mounted antenna which I will tie directly into the back of the head unit so no big deal on cutting the wire.

One thing to note that hasn't been mentioned much is the removal of the old intake tube in the fender. It is held on by three nuts on the fender wall but if you have a washer bottle relocation kit for a second battery tray then you will need to remove that Slee bracket to get to the last nut holding it in. I was able to pull both pieces out through the corner marker light. The first one took some force and some flexing and turning but I got it. The second one I had to turn it 180 degrees I think for it to come out. Can't believe our engines get enough air intake with that set-up!

BTW no video so far since I don't have an extra hand and I had limited time yesterday. But the video might have gone viral for a lunatic in his driveway cursing at an antenna! Wish me luck this morning as I break out the jigsaw!

Good luck. Thanks for the info on the Slee washer bottle bracket removal to get the antenna out.
I have a snorkel on the way and will need all the tips I can get.
When you place the template take a picture of the hood marking alignment. i.e. Does it line up with the edge of the cowl or the edge of the hood?

I had a bent mast as well but found another thread on repairing the antenna where it shows how to remove the mast. I wanted to not loose the use of the radio until I get a replacement so I kept the antenna cable attached. 3 step process. Remove mast, cut the mast extender thingy, stick antenna motor thru hole and secure with a couple zip ties, and then reattach mast. The mast sits horrizontal parallel to the firewall. Am is not the best but FM works fine. Having a bent mast may be necessary for this setup. I can take a picture later if anyone is interested.

Actually the washer bottle bracket needs to be moved to get the last nut out for the stock air intake. The antenna is held in by one bolt down low on the fender.

I read that about the mast and I tried my best with no luck. And not sure how it can be done since the antenna cable is attached to it and does not pull out.
