I have 97 LX450 with 292K. I believe I have an original Fan Clutch. My mechanic told me that I need to replace it because because when I am at the stop sign or waiting for the light to change my AC is not cooling enough. It doesn't make any noises, truck never overheats. Question, is my mechanic correct or it's just not enough freon n the system. I replaced compressor and dryer last April. I bought Denso AC compressor. Thank you!

Consider installing a 100 series auxiliary fan.
In some markets the 80s had them.
I run one and they really help in the condition you speak of.
I was just wheeling in 95 degrees weather in Utah and the AC stayed cold setting still in Direct sunlight.

Given difficulties in getting parts to where you are/will be, just buy a new OEM replacement.

I've replaced silicone oil in a fan hub previously, and had it all leak out in a few weeks.

There's a theoretically a potential gain by adjusting the thermostatic valve ports in the fan clutch hub, even with a new part.
But, a new clutch hub right out of the box is likely better than a 30 year old hub

Thanks everyone,
I've been considering that but the only clutch available here at the moment is of make "Japanparts'. There is no reference to that type of clutch on this forum as to if you can modify this one. The Aisan clutch is not available. Besides that, both will cost approx 180US$. Anyway, if I want to modify a new one I still need the oil.

The spring on mine looks ok, so there is probably no reason for it to be not serviceable.

As a last resort I can always have one shipped from the USA to Surinam. Will take 2 weeks.

There is a lot of info on this forum which is very helpfull. It is not really rocket-science, but as there are a few different makes and I am not near the car I was hoping if someone could identify the make of mine from the picture or even better supply me with data om type of silicon, how much and opening temperature in hot areas.

The electric fan could be of help, but my first thought was that making sure thet the fan clutch is working ok and continue from there.

If your fan is working correctly it will roar at start up.
Check out the Blue hub fan clutch thread by @landtank.
You can also do a Google search and it will bring up threads on mud.

Hi there
What kind of screwdrivers did you use for Aisin Blue F C?

@BILT4ME reports that he used #3 Phillips tip. For me, Phillips didn't work, and I ruined 3 good screws. So to close the F C I had to use an impact screwdriver

After that, I learned that the screws are not Phillips but Japanies spec. And need a special set of bits.

Another problem I had was that the big O ring stretched and was too long and to fix this bay cutting 2 mm of it and gluing it back together.

Wits End at the time had the screwdriver spare screws and O ring

Ok, I meant the aux fan on the left in your picture.
Yep that’s it.
I got it few years ago and I think it’s been out of stock.
You could get one from somebody parting a 100 series or a junk yard and wire it yourself.

Can anyone tell from the attached picture which FC this is. Eaton, Aisin, ... I think it is original (LX450 1997), but want to know the manufacturer so I can filter all the info on this forum.

I don’t think so.
Someone would have chimed in already

Most likely Aisin

I did an image search using the part numberfor the oem clutch.

I don't believe yours is oem.

The four round bosses between fins on yours are not present on the oem clutch. ( one circled in red)

The link i posted to Partsouq.com is a genuine oem aisin clutch. USD.

They ship all over.

If you're weighing up $180 for an unknown part vs ~$200 for an oem aisin to suit your vehicle, I'd be going for the oem item

Like @mudgudgeon said get the new Aisin !
This is a critical part in keeping you Cruiser running correctly into the future.

And looking closer your fan is also damaged and ready to take out the radiator.

Replace the Fan clutch and fan both.

When I did mine I did the fan clutch fan and shroud all at the same time.

Cheap insurance.
