Sanding. Also using a level to get things level before I lay down the seam sealer.

Roof is done!

No. It's not supposed to afaik

Nice work!

Are you keeping with the theme and rebuilding the engine? Assembling yourself?

The engine is currently at Jackson Cylinder head, getting a full makeover. Cam, bearings, decked, rings, rebuilt head, oil pump; you name it. It'll be like a new engine once I get it back.

As you may have remembered, after I got the 40 put together and back on the road, I immediately noticed some burning coolant. After driving a bit more, I started to notice what I believed to be a knock. After letting @dnp and @offr0adlim0 drive it too, they agreed it sounded like a knock.

So, out came the engine. I drove it over to Jackson Cylinder Head and got them to do a full redo. Cylinders redone, new rings, new rod bearings, new cam, turned crankshaft, new crankshaft bearings, new oil pump, fluxed head and block, new freeze plugs, decked block and head, new valves, new valve bushings, and a few other little odds and ends.

Got a call today. It's ready for pick up. Woohoo!

Thank you Patrick, for the reminder.

:)

Hahaha.

Still crickets on the motor I took him. Sure glad I found the one I did

He told me he had to fire his best employee, so everything is taking 2x as long now.

That being said, it appears the squeaky wheel does, in fact, get the grease with his services.

Got the engine back from the machine shop. It's slowly coming back together now.

I saw an oil filter sitting on the floor by your truck in DNP's shop the other night during the meeting. Please don't put that on that motor. Wasn't sure why it was there but throw that away.

That off brand filter is only going to be installed during the break in. After the first oil change, I'll be installing the Toyota filter

Really man? You just spent how much on a rebuild? Spend another $5.00 and don't put an oil filter on a brand new motor that has been sitting out of the box in a shop. Just sayin...

You misunderstand me. I thought you were referencing the non Toyota filter. Yes, of course I'll be putting a new filter on; I won't put the nice Toyota filter on until the engine is done breaking in. And I'm certainly not going to risk introducing foreign contaminants to my new engine by using an old filter.

I was referring to the off brand filter I see sitting on the floor under your truck at DNP's. The one that is not in the box. If you are going to buy a new one then cool.
