you've got options.,...

:whoops:, Sorry for the derail, Travis. That pumpkin pig is a nice example, maybe start looking for a whole rear clip.

Ha!

No worries Ron. Goats and old military trucks are always welcome here. Besides, I've hijacked a couple of threads around here myself.

Looks like you've got a fun toys!

you could use some 1/8"diamond to make a sort of tailgate/hatch thing across the back and build a diamond plate platform bumper that goes all the way to the end of the frame and is deep enough to hold your spare/fuel/jack on top of it w/out overhanging the bumper, heck maybe even leaving room for a step-up with the thing all loaded up...You could use some rectangular or square material to fab uprights-use them as the endcaps to the body panels, the support for the tailgate frame, AND the support for your tire/fuel rack hinges all at the same time, and keep the tank down under where it was...how much room do you have from the back of where the bulkhead material will be to the end of the body panels?

Like the idea!

As for room, I'm still not sure where the bulkhead will go. Still playing with a couple of different ideas. Right now, it's in the 2-3 foot range.

I also like the idea of not cutting the frame, but that departure angle!!!

Man, that thing is LONG!

the departure angle isn't so terrible if it all ends at the plane where the very rearmost piece of cross member is- that can be made straight to cut out 2 more inches and not having to touch the "frame". and if everything is tucked up high and tight over the bumper- without any overhang- the departure angle is then better than it was stock. a couple inches on the springs or a spring over and it would be a non issue.
that truck is looong....but in a standard 4 wheel set-up and a shorter box....I love the things...there's sooo much one could do

Interesting idea. I think I'm going to spend some time practicing my welds ( I did some sub par welding yesterday) and in the meantime clean up the frame. It'll give me some time to figure out which way to go with the body.

Oh... and I just picked up the lasted Peterson 4X4 where they 4-link a 14 bolt.............................

No, I get it. It's cool. It's just so LONG!!! :)

China Wall

Took my 100 out with the local club yesterday.

Made it up China wall without a problem.

V8, heated seats, AC, GPS, ATRAC, airbags, safety crumple zones, 3 rows of seats, great sound system, ....

Why am I building the 55 again?

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

You're building the 55 again because it doesn't have all the things, you just listed. Anybody can buy a 100. 55's ooze of independence, 55's reek of utilitarian brawn, 55's have steel nuts!, need I go on. :) Now get back to work.

you're building a piggy again because the 100 series is ugly and the 55 bod would look soooooo cool on that chassis, but you have to dent the 100 up first to justify throwing it's body away

Yeah, yeah... I know. :D Love the old girl and couldn't image walking into my garage and not seeing it there.

Question to those of you who have done a 350 conversion:

- Any reason to keep the current engine mounts? I'm going to start "cleaning up" the frame and was planning on stripping them.
