If you run the mini truck P/S do the pump a favor and run a cooler. A cheap trans cooler will work. You'll thank me for it later.

I got an OEM 80 cooler I'll donate to the project for shipping $

Glad you cleared that up. Never knew where Monroe was

s*** I'm tired...it's WEST..WEST!

It's funny, i meet more people who know where Delhi is than Monroe.

On the power steering stuff...I honestly have no clue. Will have to get that figured out. Is it really necessary? I can always bolt the old manual box back on...

Man, I'm only about an hour from you up in the Crossett/Hamburg area. I wanna come see!

For a road Cruiser, p/s is not needed at all. Especially with tall skinnies like 33x10.50 radials.

hmmm...planning on going with tall/skinny BFGs, and she's def gonna be a road cruiser. Might just bolt the old bracket & box back on (since i drilled the rivets) and go from there. I can always tuck the p/s conversion away for future.

Anytime, come on by. I'm at the shop at least one day of every weekend.

Based on the amount of work you've gotten done in the short amount of time you've done it, I pretty much assumed you lived at your shop...

No sh*t.

Looking great!

Love the Dune Beige color.

Thats a great shop you got there. You are blazing through this!

Ok, was piddling at the shop after work, and am just now noticing that the fenders have been cut too high for flares.

I'm not going for a full-on factory restore and knew that the fenders had been cut, but I didnt notice that they were cut too high up for the flares to be mounted properly.

Pics below.

I dont mind spending the money to buy new steel fenders, but I know no-one that can cut these out and replace. You guys know someone that can do it right?

EDIT: the pics don't really show the issue real well...

Go flare less....it will still look sweet

It's tough to tell, but you can see the body bracing exposed on the drivers side, toward the front of the wheel well. Don't know how that would look bare, was gonna cover w a flare.

Yeah if you are going to run tall skinnies then a bushwhacker flare is what you need to run. Probably what was in it at one time anyway.

I have a set of bushwacker flares that Rob included with the sale, and they don't really cover it up either...

Below I've highlighted the holes that the PO drilled for a set of flares he must have been considering. The issue here is that those holes do not go into the wheel well. They penetrate into the interior bed area. So from the back seat, you could see the nuts, washers, etc, holding the flares on.

The main issue is that the fenders were cut up so high, that there is literally only 1/4" of space from the lip of the fender (long red line on the pic) to the underside of the tub.

Buddy of mine has been welding for 20 years, says he can do the swap, no problem. I'm a little nervous about this, but i think i'm going to have to go that way.
