When you say "do the swap" are you going to have him weld in new steel back there?

CCOT has what you need.

If I was running tall skinnies with a lift, I would want it without cut out openings and flares too.

Quarter Panels

Exactly. I've been looking at the CCOT panels, and he and I have looked at the tub and the pics they have online. He'll cut out the old steel, weld the new in, grind down the welds.

I'll only be out the cost of the panels...$300 or so.

I'm almost certain that I'm going to go this route now.

ORDERED....pretty reasonable price if you ask me.

If you still need the running board brackets, I found a pair in my pile. These are the brackets that go between the body mount on the frame to the running board.

Moved into my new house last week, and have spent every spare hour building 275' of 8' tall privacy fence. Now I know why people charge $12-$15 per foot labor to build them...

BUT I'm saving $3k doing it myself...and that will pay for the body work on the 40!

Build will start again in 2 weeks...I miss the truck already!

Back on the wagon...

Tub is at the welder's for the new quarter panel installs, buddy is doing that in his spare time, will probably be a few weeks.

New (used) tie-rod and all new tie rod ends, as well as all new clamps, bolts, zerks, etc, on the way from SOR, hopefully here by the weekend.

Tub of parts going to the powder coater tomorrow (thanks for the stays Lash) to get dressed up in case he decides to shut it down.

Got my new to me gas tank cover today, looks good, just needs blasting and painting. I'm still looking for a tranny hump cover if anyone runs across one.

Rear Disk Brake conversion and front disk brake rebuild are next after all the steering stuff...

Double check me on this, but I'm pretty sure you can do the same upgrades as mini-truck fronts. So, FJ60 rotors and IFS / V6 calipers.

Can anyone with 40 knowledge verify?

May as well do a little upgrading if you're buying new stuff. Rotors should be the same price-wise, and V6/IFS calipers are very easy to source in a junkyard.

I put the mid 90's IFS V6 4-piston calipers on the vented rotors that were already on my '77 40. The shield needs a slight trim for the bigger calipers to bolt up, but the mounting is the same as OEM. I bought "loaded" calipers (with pads) at Advance or Napa. Can't remember which one. I did rear disks and a pickup booster all at the same time. It stops very well.
