Hello,

I am selling my friend's truck he is sick and needs the money for medical expenses. We have gotten an appraisal from an insurance company from 35-50k because of the rarity. I am trying to figure out at what pricing I should sell it at and I would like some honest opinions from people who buy and sell these trucks all the time. Its in mint condition BJ42 Toyota Land Cruiser. All original parts and no modifications also come with an assortment of parts. Original red and white colors, 4 cyl diesel with 400,000km, power steering, standard transmission and original interior. This Land Cruiser has been well maintain, no rust, no winter driving and stays in storage for most of the year. If you require further information please feel free to reach out. So I ended up talking with the owner and got some details figured out. Second owner since 1990 is a woman (wife of owner) who never used it for off road and she kept it in meticulous care and service, undercoated yearly and has gotten a recent clean and scrape. It has 400,000 km on it. It was restored back in 2010 along with new interior, fenders, side panels, rad, gas tank, brakes, rubbers and new headliners. Original motor and no modifications. The paint was also redone in 2010 but done with original colors called freeborn red & white. There have been no collisions. It has been stored indoors throughout all winters since restoration in 2010. Also, it comes with 3 bins of new parts purchased over the years in anticipation of scarcity. SELLING PRICE $35,000. Except I feel like I’ve heard that story before about the wife who now owns the truck and never uses it, it’s never seen winter, etc...

Your not suggesting that the Original Story he put out there that was proven wrong and then replaced by the next story which sounds like the little old lady only drive on Sunday story is more of the same ?

Car was made in 1984 and it is now 2019 so that is 35 years of use.

Now he says it was a resto in 2010 and lady driven since hardly at all and stored inside ... so lets say it now gets 2000 km a year .. so 2000 km a year for 9 years = 18k km's

So take 9 off the 35 and we get 26 so we now have 400 000 - 18 000 = 382 000 km in 26 years .. so we are now doing about 15 000 km every years since it was built which is not that much but if it was not used in Winter and kept inside ... well the miles it drives in summer start to get pretty high pretty quick .

Anyway, you can split the numbers anyway you like but you get the feeling that the Truck has not been honestly represented relative to how it has spent its life

I was inquiring about looking at the BJ. It is not my rig. Pictured below is my rig. I am thinking of posting it on BAT. Exceptionally clean from Lisbon Airport in Portugal
