Have you had your windshield tinted? If not then you have no grounds to say that nighttime visibility is hampered.

I have had almost every vehicle I have owned tinted, including the windshield. I never go too dark (20% rears, 30% fronts, and 70% windshield) and have absolutely no issues seeing anything at any time of the day. In fact nobody can even tell that my windshield is tinted, barely even me, but it helps reduce heat, and I have found it to reduce glare at night.

It's the unmodest guys in the lifted trucks rolling around with 5% windows and 30% windshield you need to worry about.

I wouldn't say its irresponsible if I hadn't tried it.

Down here people get windows tinted to an irresponsible level due to security reasons over heat. If someone can't see whats in the car, it cant get stolen. If someone can't see your cellphone, you wont get mugged. If someone cant see how many people are in the vehicle, they wont try to kidnap you. it works to an extent.

I've tried between 50 and 30% in the windshield, All of which have been WAY too dark. I think I have 35% on all other windows. Both have been way too dark for me to see pedestrians or animals crossing in a dark stretch of road without aux lighting. I can't see potholes, which get seriously bad down here. I decided I can't drive my girlfriend's car due to the tinted windshield. I believe she has 35%. My mother has 50%. Can't see worth a damn. My GF's father has 30% IN ALL HIS WINDOWS. That's madness.

Sure, you can say to yourself its not that bad, but when you drive through a dark, really bad stretch of road (which is 75% of our driving) you start to realize you need to remove the tinted windshield.

My opinion remains. Only if you can get something above 50%, maybe its driveable. If your roads are very well lit, then its another plus. But I believe any sort of WINDSHIELD tinting is asking for trouble. I believe its illegal in a bunch of states correct?

To each their own. I have a tinted windshield and have no issues seeing anything regardless of the darkness or location at night. But I also have proper, bright, projector headlights, and good vision. I would remove it if I felt it hampered me.

But you are correct in your original statement that once you go past a certain percentage it becomes unsafe. And yes it is legal in many states, but as long as it's not noticeably dark, you don the get bothered. Be modest about it, that's my opinion.

I've got decent quality ceramic on the DS&PS windows but the clarity is not the same as the tinted glass in the 2nd & 3rd row.

Do you notice the clarity of tint on the windshield, or get used to it?

It's all about quality of tint. A reputable installer most likely has it down, my tint guy has been in the business for 20 years and been through probably that many different products.

Everyone who drives my car, including myself, never can tell that there is any tint on the windshield, unless the front windows are down. Then there is a slight distinction.

I talked to the guy who installed tint on my vehicles. They do a lot of windshields. He suggested 70% - ceramic type: UV and heat rejection.

Perfect percentage if you ask me

Calm down everyone. Windshield tint is very common and usually does not pose an issue if done correctly. 50% will not hinder your ability to see, unless you have a pre-existing condition that makes it hard to see at night.

i just did my front with ceramic 75%. It's the first time i've ever done the front. The apparently you can go as low as 75 in TX. it made a world of difference and it'll slow down deterioration from UV rays.

I recommend it if you live in a hot state.
