Hey everyone!

I am new to the site and just wanted to post some info. I recently purchased a 84 and 1/2 Longbed striaght axle. Came already lifted 7inch and 35 on it already. The only mods I've done myself was the cross-over steer and swapped the solid stock dics brakes to 1992 landcruiser vented disc, and blacked out all the rediculus crome the previous owner had all over this thing...

The problem I'm having is finding replacement wheel studs for the front. I'm running 1/4 inch spacers in the front to clear the bigger caliper but cant find anyone who can size up a longer stud. Anyone know of an application that fits???

There are some brake upgrade links in the FAQ thread here, one of them may have the info you're looking for. Are you sure you used 92 discs? I thought you needed to get the same year Cruiser discs as the mini you had???

Welcome to Mud! :flipoff2: Now where's the pics!!!! :D

CORRECTION (previous post)

The calipers and rotors I am running are off a 1972 Landcruiser, not 1992. Still need info on longer wheel studs if anyone has info...

thanks

Welcome. Can't help you with the studs but if you go to your original post you will see an edit button. Click on edit and you can change anything you want (like the year). You can then delete this redundant thread.

Longer wheel studs

Ok, after searching around this site and calling everyone I could think of in my area, I MAY have a solution. I was directed to a local "race shop" by a wheel & tire dealer I deal with at work and was told if I brought in a stock wheel stud they could match up a longer stud for most ANY application. I see that alot of members and guests are having the same problem of needing longer studs to fit their new wheel and tire setup on their cruisers and hilux's. They sounded confident that they could match up ANY application. I'll get it on the rack tomorrow, pull one and get back to everyone, but in the meantime I assume most of you have a local Drag Race/Racing parts supplier if you want to check with yours. Not $10.00 a stud either, they say about $1.99 a studd. Not bad.

Welcome, but whoa, cowboy....

Bottom right, says "quote", "multi quote" or "quick reply". To get to the smileys and edit options, just hit quick reply, then look for "go advanced"

The studs on 83-85 solid front axle look FAR different than a rear axle. The knurl is much longer.

Yep, the shoulders are different. Rear on the left. Front on the right.

same problem

I'm doing a build up ona 85 straight axle and can't use the original studs because of the 1.5 in spacer I'm using. Tried NAPA and Toyota Parts(2 times) and all of their studs are small. Thought I was crazy asking for other than oem replacement. Searched and found some at ARP Bolt p/n wsau-588-1 . Hope that helps

Those arp studs will work in the rear, but do not have enough knurl to work in the front. The front studs hold the rotor to the hub, and by using those, the rotor will be loose on the hub. Not a safe stud to use.

Ok, got it all fixed today. Went to that drag race shop (lopers here is phoenix), and they were able to match up front studs that work, though the thread pitch had to be chaged to a 1/2in x 20 but they pressed right in and are 1/2 inch longer. Just got new lug nuts to match and I'm back on the trail.
thanks for your help everyone!
