It looks like you've been very busy. Good work. I noticed in post #30, it appears your right frt bump stop is very close to the spring plate and wont allow the suspension to flex much, if at all . It will probably cause a rougher ride and no or minimal flex than you are wanting.

I think you're referring to the passenger front, and yes, it's pretty close, less than an inch. For now it's fine. I'll wait to see about the front springs since all I know about them is that they're leaf springs. Once everything is back together and all the weight is on the suspension and I've cycled the springs and shocks and shackles I'll know what's up. Thanks for the encouraging words.

Annnd that's a wrap on the steering. Well, mostly anyway. I still need to adjust everything and finish the lock collars or whatever they're called, but it's together. Turning the round thingie up top makes the 2 round rubber thingies go back and forth. Win!

Looking good! At some point soon before you really start driving you are going to want to replace these little bolts with zircs. There isn't much grease from new. At least on my set anyway.

So this arrived and happened today... I know it looks different in the pictures on that website, but this is the only way I could get it to fit. It does work I guess, just hard to justify the price. Anyway, it's a win, so onward...

This build would be faster if I didn't have to deal with vendors and not sending correct parts, not sending them at all, etc. Moving on...

I still need one little part before I can install the xfer case floor shifter, namely a boot for the shift fork thingie. So while I waited for that, I cleaned up half of the gas tank straps, the shifter bracket, and the shifter.

Dug out all the dirt and gook from the hole on the transmission for the shifter. I happened to have a tap the right size so I could clean up the threads.

After 3 attempts to get the carburetor gaskets (not sent with other parts) I finally was able to get the carburetor installed. Also ordered new studs and nuts for the carb, and air rail plugs. All done. The HVAC tape is because I'm clumsy and didn't want to drop anything down the intake.

I've gotten a lot of wiring done, ordered some more wire from coolerman to rebuild the rear harness and the wiper harness.

So a lot of progress.

Once I get the correct parts I'll be able to finish up the clutch hydraulics. More on that later.

The reason you couldn't get this to fit right is you're missing the spacer between the alternator bar and water pump.

That's not the only reason.

That's not the only reason.

No, that probably is the only reason. I install a lot of these.
However, since you have a 2F - are you using a 1F lower alternator bracket (you should be) or a 2F smog pump bracket? They have different offset which could also be causing you issue.

Got the clutch hydraulics sorted out and installed. Big thanks for Rick at BTB Products (ManAFre) for help with this.

I used a later model MC and hardline, the banjo bolt fitting off the MC makes getting the hardline connected easier. That inexpensive Harbor Freight tubing bender worked just fine.

Other than that, today was a cleanup day for the garage, tools, misc boxes of whatever tossed out, painted the gas tank straps, etc.

So it's a been a minute since any updates. Work got in the way, life got in the way, other projects...

I realized the gas tank was a rusty mess inside and no amount of Evap-O-Rust was going to fix it. Took in to to a local PHX shop, they boiled / cleaned / painted etc. Pretty! Got it mounted along with a new fuel level sender, new gasket, connected to the new harness...

Got a lot more done, pics incoming

Driver's and passenger seats mounted
Fuel line fully plumbed to carb
2F air cleaner assembly mounted
Radiator mounting bracket cleaned painted reattached
Front bib reattached, connected to new wiring harness
Hood reattached with new pads and old screws
New OEM rear lights mounted
Instrument cluster wired in and mounted
New OEM battery tray mounted
Lots of misc little things too

Then... this showed up locally, and I had to have it.

'74 FJ40, '75 2F engine, 4-speed, 164k miles, fairly stock, very minimal rust, some interesting upgrades...

So... the '67 Project is for sale...

i think you just wanted to buy it so you can flip the bezel back like you did with the 67´ :)

Yup. Fixing the 'cruiser world, one 40 bezel at a time.
