New member - 2013 LX570 - Wheel questions

Hey everyone, finally found a nice LX570 with full service records. I can't believe how well this thing drives. Coming from a 3rd gen 4runner, this is night and day. Wife also approved the driving experience.

Now, we live in the middle of British Columbia, so we need a second set of wheels and tires. Currently installed are the OE 20" with a set of winters. My questions around wheels are:

• Would wheel size 18 and 275/65R18 be good to keep the driving experience similar to OE 20"?
• What would a good set of wheels be?
• Where to find wheels in Canada?
• Anything I need to consider to keep the pressure monitor system working on the new set?

I'm kind of overwhelmed at all the options, and the wheels and tires database seem to be quite long and confusing. Not sure if there's an actual link to something meaningful there, plus, we're not looking to "maximize" the tire size without rubbing, we're looking for comfort and performance more than looks.

If anyone can provide any pointers, I would greatly appreciate it.

The OE tire sizes in the Land Cruiser for 18 inch wheels is 285/60-18. Probably also a good choice for the LX to match factory driving experience. You likely don’t want E rated tires. When you buy wheels, match the offset as close as possible to the OE LX wheels. You’ll need to add TPMS sensors to the new wheels and have the installer program them. Spare tire ok?

You will probably get a better driving experience going to a 17 or 18" tire. I went from the stock LX 20" to the BBS Forged 18" wheels and I feel like it is a better driving experience on anything that isn't perfectly smooth flat highway. You want to look for 17" or 18" wheels for the Land Cruiser, Tundra or Sequoia. Stock wheel is 5x150 bolt pattern, +58-60mm offset and anything from +25-+60mm will work.

I have a 2013 LX and within a few weeks of owning it I bought a set of 2013 LC 18' rims and fitted them with 275/65 tires. I found a set here on mud, no idea what the market is like in Canada but I did find the spare on Ebay, store just selling OEM LC rims. I had Discount Tire swap out the tire pressure sensors and sold the OEM Lexus rims on mud. Truck drives better, better tire selection and tires are less expensive.

Excellent information, thank you! It seems going down wheel diameter is a no-brainer, I'll try to find LC wheels to keep the stock look as much as possible. I'll report back here in case a future user finds this info helpful.

A 285/65 would be a good choice in an 18" tire if you dont want to modify anything at all. You can go bigger with some fender liner molding. Id suggest looking for a set of 18" tundra takeoffs. They work well on the 200 series. I had Kal Tire install TPMS sensors that would clone the OEM ones. They work great.

I'll add that 18's are the easy button. Tundra rims fit, and you can find a lot of used sets on facebook marketplace, often at decent prices. If you want new ones, the sky is the limit. Everyone seems to drool over the BBS TRD Tundra 18's, and I'm no exception $$$$$. With 17" rims, you'll want to verify the fit before purchasing.

I've got 2 sets of Tundra 18's and the OEM 2013 LX wheels (I think they are awesome 20's).

A consideration for Canadians is that you will probably want to run a dedicated set of winters and "summers"/all-seasons. If you want 33's with no mods, it's easy to accommodate 17", 18", 20". However, if you want to move up to 35" or larger (many supporting mod's recommended), your winter options become a bit more limited and rim size matters.

If you're looking for new rubber, Blackcircles.ca has phenomenal (unbeatable) prices compared to any other shop I've used.
RockAuto for TPMS (Denso) or Autel if you need clones.
Independent shop's should install & balance for ~$30/tire.

I used to go to Kaltire for everything, but they are now way more expensive than most independent shops for products and services.

Thread 'LX570 AHC height modifications (lift it!)'

Ive been searching around and have read mention of people adjusting the AHC to set the truck height higher but I haven't seen any tutorial about it. I looked under the truck at the sensors and it looks like there is room for adjustment. I am really just hoping to raise the front end to remove the rake. Well id like to raise it all if possible but i'll settle for just taking out the rake. ha Just don't want to mess it up as i know these systems can be finicky....any help would be awesome.

Thank you for the detailed reply.

Definitely need the second set for Summer/Winter swap. The current setup with OEMs have some neat winters, not studded, but I've already used them in a heavy snowstorm and ice and they performed quite well. They should have at least 2 more seasons in them. Not a fan of 20" but I don't need to change them now.

Interestingly, I'm unable to find 18" Tundra/Sequoia wheels on marketplace. Mostly 20", which I find odd. I found someone selling a set of 18" form an LC in the US online. Trying to make the logistics work of shipping them to Canada, will keep you posted.
