I dont like change.... but come on. the clasifieds section is telling me there are 15 fj40s for sale on the entirety of the system. and I cannot find old ones. I understand the price has gone up due to them being old and rare... but 15?

It says a whole lot that it was easier to find this thread about the classified section than it is to find out how to view old, sold, inactive, or any other options on the actual classified posts. Maybe I just want to sit here and cry looking at fj40s that sold in 2009 for 5 and 6 thousand dollars and play the would have could have should have game with myself. but no. there are 15 fj40 ads I am able to find. nothing before june 4 2026

edit: apparently the "classified archive" is the option i was looking for. I figured out my problem but for the next guy a link at the bottom where the next page button would eventually go something like "looking for more posts" or "didnt find what you were looking for search the archives" I incorrectly assumed the new layouts were additional features built on top of the the classifieds not a completely separate sandbox

Great idea, added a Classifieds Archive link below the new Categories to make it easier to find.

I might complain but I get used to these types of changes and go on with life. However, I rarely go to the classifieds here any more as I find it really difficult to navigate.

I bet you 50+% of people who use this forum are over 50yrs old. Could even be over 80%. This is a place where people argue over if a carburetor is better than fuel injection on their 50yr old Land Cruiser. Where people get shamed for not using OEM parts. A place where things have been mostly the same for 25yrs, ie the forums and classified. So ya, you are surprised when something like the classified is drastically changed and the users don’t like it?

Then you have those of us that hate Facebook and FB marketplace.

So the iH8mud classifieds were out happy place at poop time. Past tense, I hardly look at the classifieds here anymore.

🤷‍♂️

Cheers

Wonder what even prompted this change. I never asked for a new classifieds, did any of you?

Come to think of it, I don't remember asking for social media, or AI either.

The pushback on this is getting comical.

How many transactions have you made through the classifieds here in your 3 years of membership?

MUD Classifieds is dead to me now. I used to view it daily. Thankfully, the ONSC Clubhouse has a pretty good Buy / Sell thread. I scan it daily. I have noticed that several local sellers in the Clubhouse Buy / Sell thread no longer bother to cross-post in the big MUD Classifieds anymore.

So do I have to do a search literally every time I want to see a specific genre of vehicle or part for sale? How do I simply scan all 80 series vehicles for sale or all parts pertaining a certain portion of the vehicle? Did I miss the post where it was explained what was wrong with the previous classified section?

click the first olive 80 series prefix you run across and it auto filters OR use the filter menu (right side just below "new ad"

FYI, tech sections prefixes have always done this, one click to filter to just Build threads.

You could also use the dedicated Classifieds search. THEN take that search link, and save it as your forum Home page in your browser, so that's the default link you access any time you log in. This is one I just did...covers all Parts Classifieds for the 40-45-55-60 series models. Pick and choose the ones that you want, and save the search.

This is the default dedicated Classifieds search to start with:

Here is another, keyword "diff" for just the 100 series parts section.

Or I can just hit the Parts Classifieds, and click the Olive prefix of the model I am hunting for....

Can we have the general home page sorted by created date by default? It seems it's currently sorted by last update?
Filters allow that. I'm working with the developer on "saved" filter settings.

If you are selling, then "last update" gets your updates bumped into view

I had a thread going in the former Small Vendors section that I would only update for sales or new product launches, but now the "Small Vendors" section is nearly impossible to find on mobile. @woody I'm sure you know the breakdown of how many people access the site on desktop versus mobile, but my gut feeling is that this partially eliminates a place where I can get eyeballs on my stuff. Because it's much more difficult to find now for people on their phones I don't feel like it's even worth posting my current sale there. Again, I don't have the data you have access to.

Also, that section is now just called "Vendors" which doesn't delineate it from the normal "Vendor" sections in the general forum area. Since the vendor badge is two-tiered (and that's fine, there are some big players who can afford a higher cost membership with more benefits versus us small potatoes guys who like paying the lower-cost level) I'm not even sure where I can post anymore. I have a thread for my vendor stuff in the 60 Series forum, so at least I can keep posting there I guess.

Edit: the "Vendor" button in the new Classifieds is just listings for individual products. It's not a sort of show-and-tell like the old Small Vendors area. So that concept is now dead?

The advantage to having the Vendor banner (like you have) IS the ability to promote your products in Tech. Additionally, Vendors have the dedicated Vendor sections at the very top of the entire forum. Those are the places you should be promoting. Those threqds also appear in the "new posts" pages.

There are other perks for sure - no complaints there. I don’t pay for the higher tier vendor status however, so I the Vendor section in the general forum isn’t available to me. Bummer.

I can't find a page for wanted vehicles listed as other only what there is dedicated page for I don't care for this new feelings like a downgrade

There has never been a page for WANTED vehicles or parts. Only a Prefix. Same setup now.

Correction...there is a NEW "other vehicles" section under Toyota / Lexus that was added in the past week...and there was no "wanted" option there. That has now been fixed.

My wife used to get mad at me for the amount of time I would spend on classifieds . Now I’m spending double the amount of time on classifieds because I can’t figure out where the hell anything is. I’m sure there are some benefits to the update but I haven’t figured them out yet. #changeitbackformywifessake
