Quick and dirty....a NEW Classifieds system is now active!
  • Current Classifieds is CLOSED to new listings and will be listed as "Archive" in a month/two
  • Those Archived Classifieds threads will remain unlocked and open for replies...for now
  • Bad Sellers and some other important threads will be relocated to this Admin section. Those WILL be kept open long term.

Some features of the new Classifieds

There are a handful of features that are still being worked thru, mostly since I want to monitor how things get used by the members before I tweak them.

Post your questions/comments in this thread. This Classifieds system was created by a reliable/responsive developer, and is widely used, but like everything, there WILL be a learning curve. :)

ALSO...if you have recently listed something in the "old" Classifieds, I'd encourage you to re-list within the new system. Twice the views (plus, good practice!) :)

EDIT: If you think of something that could be added, post it up here. Always open for suggestions!

Now listed on the main forum page....and there will be a dismissable link at the top of Classifieds too :)

Looks great! First feature request - add the ability to filter on seller region to look for closer items.
coming....need to get a few Google things figured out first. Their API is a pain sometimes...

Can the ‘diesel’ section return?

New style looks great so far.

added....subsection under "engine"

JDM items can simply include "JDM" in the description and list under other categories Likely get better visibility as well.

This feels like a fix for something that wasn't at all broken. The changes do not seem user friendly or user driven. Visually, the old classifieds main landing page was so much better and was super easy to navigate exactly where you wanted to go compared to the new page. The new page is going to force a bunch of stuff on you visually that you aren't interested in, and likely kill my browsing of the classifieds. Silver lining is it will probably save me some money impulse buying stuff I really don't need.

Bummed for this change, but I'm sure there was a business reason on the back side for doing this.

Another forum I frequent tried a similar new approach to classified listings. No one liked it, classified traffic dropped way off and the forum owner reverted back to the old subforum and thread format.

Forum structure is terrible for Classifieds. Always has been. I've fielded endless complaints about how it works, the searchability, etc. The filter options work far better, allowing shoppers to narrow down their interests by model, by section, price ranges, etc. A buyer/seller rating system has been on the wish list for years. I'm still working thru some of the features, having a few classified listings will assist with setting that up.

Time will tell. Always does :)

I almost forgot...it's own dedicated Search page too:

We'll see if this works - a shareabile search URL

2nd request-
Is it possible to filter by part category AND series? Ie, I want to search for interior parts for sale but I don't want to have to search though everything from the 40 series though the 200

Yes, you can select body/chassis and 200-series and perform the search. Two separate selection choices on the Classifieds search page.

Or, you could select 40, 55 and 60 series and Axle/Diff to search.

May need to add an Interior section....hhmmm

Interior should be live shortly....and I need to finish up descriptions on categories....

Another navigation tip: Click the colored Prefix boxes on the main Classifieds listings....quick/easy to narrow to "for sale" or "80-series" etc....

I like the new format! Will you be able to handle auctions like in the old classifieds. I just put up a BaT link/classified ad, but my only options are for sale, trade, or wanted. Thanks!

BaT is effectively the same as For Sale, just note BaT or eBay or whatever in the title and link in the ad
