I already have the rims on the 255's

Non of the modern steelies i'm aware of have the right backspacing for 70 series rigs, have to go aftermarket.

I thought about 17' to run a 275/80, but ultimately I don't think anything bigger than 33 is really in my future going forward.

I'm running a 16x7 with the factory 3.5 b.s., they fit perfect and tuck in the wheelwells nicely.

Finally caught your thread. Very exciting man. And such an amazing condition truck. That wheel/tire combination looks great. I'm looking forward to seeing where you take the truck.

The "School Bus Troopy" is 100% a real thing in Oman. Beautiful, sparsely populated, with mountains and coast and rocky dirt tracks... they last forever.

100% agree with Joel.

Clay, you look super happy, like a little kid that found his favorite toy.

Drive safe and have a blast..

One of the reasons I wanted a Middle East troopy is the minimal rust, there's rust on any old iron rig, but minimal, non cancerous, at least manageable rust.

I'd rather deal deal with mechanicals than heavy body work.

My goal with this troopy will be to fix what needs fixing and make it reliable and a better off roader, but to preserve the patina of being used all its life, I like it simple, and worn.

An easy morning project to tackle some of that light rust in the gutters. Just a quick job to remove the rust, spray to seal it up, I'll be replacing the seam sealer when the product arrives.

RHINO C. Davis’s -
Preservation of the Species

Funny story -
A buddy of mine I go kayaking (boating) with was unable to attend a trip one time several years back. It was a common occurrence. He must have had at least ten kayaks and canoes of varying types and conditions. On behalf of another boatless guy who could go we asked if he could borrow one for the trip. To this he declined, stating that he was trying to keep them in nice condition for his kids. Since that time, an inside joke between others in my boating circle is that he wanted to “preserve them for future generations”.

In the context of LC’s, that is no joke. Gotta work to preserve them because at some point in the not so distant future, you’ll have a really hard time finding them.

So are you really in Payson now? I was down off the rim last week. Just came up from the valley Wednesday on SR 260 and the traffic caused by the road work south the junction of SR 260 on SR 87 is causing a nightmare. In the area. Didn't help didn't road crew was driving their equipment up to the junction at ten MPH. Would avoid heading north on SR 87.

If you are in Payson would really like to see your troopy.

You calling me a liar?😁 almost 4 yrs now

They are putting in new lines,,, using helicopters to string them in, kinda cool to watch but traffic is annoying.

I'll be in Montana for a couple more weeks, but feel free to drop in anytime bud.

Shackle angles not ideal, the springs really should a bit longer than stock but there not.

They will settle in some, but I will never have the shackles angles I'd like to see.

Man, I’d really rather not make the suggestion to have some custom springs made after all the work of installing these new ones, but if they had any kind of return policy, now would be a better time than later to take a front and rear pack to a spring builder and have them build a set based off of those to your new specs. I’m gonna take a stab and say (for the rear springs) you’d like to keep the center bolt where it’s at and lengthen the rear section 2” - 3”?(Opposite for the front)(?)
I’ll also predict it would be about $1,500 for the set.

Thought about custom springs, Deaver for example said $3200 for all four,

Shackles are verticle right now, so it will improve when these springs settle in, but won't be ideal.

We'll see how it goes as they break in, always room for improvement, but should be acceptable.

I can always just move the perches

@RHINO

Happened to be in Payson today and spotted this in a parking lot around noon. Do you happen to work there or shopping. Wife was driving and on her side driving in. Leaving I noticed it and she said was there when drove in.
