Don't know what you are using Ary but I've been using a higher output LED flex strip that contains 36 LED's per foot. Very bright for camping/task lighting.

linky would be nice comma thanking you....;)

Drew's wife had a baby yesterday, so he might be busy for a while......

I just spent my entire day reading this thread.

Your attention to detail is top notch. I have never seen a better trailer build.

Congrats on the baby!

Another killer trailer build. Looks great.

Now you need a bigger tent!

Congrats!

Thanks for the kind words fellas.

Wow, how is it Feb already! Our new baby girl is amazing. The trailer has taken a backseat to a new home and getting my extensive honey-do list complete. Including remodeling our basement office and bathroom.

I hope to have the trailer 100% completed before the wheelin' season starts as my son is now excited to go camping and potty trained. :bounce:

I just gotta' plumb the water system and wrap up the kitchen.

Drew,

Any updates on the strip lights?

I just got back from 11 days in my trailer and the Dot-it's were great, but we were still wanting for more well distributed light.

Thanks,

Ary

I like the lights I got. I have only got them installed in the top of the RTT. I really dig them, but I wish there was a hard switch override. I have a remote that I am terrified of loosing. Especially since my son loves to play with any remote. I am working on a tether or some sort.

Good deal! I'm getting ready to order some. Gonna go for the big roll and use a few strips as undercabinet lights in my kitchen too(the one in the house ;p ).

This is the dimmer/on/off switch I've been using with the LED strip lights (Kick KR8 PWM dimmer/on/off control). Found it after the slider style, which wasn't sealed per se, gave up after probably a little dust contamination. This one is sealed, mfg'd to mil spec, relatively small form factor and made in the USA to boot! Worth the price!

Same thing on e-Bay: eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

Mine are the fancy light color changing ones, I dont think the switch would work for me... do you?

I have an IR remote that controls the unit.

I doubt it...no controller board AFAIK for the multi-color LEDs other than PWM. But they are great folks...you might contact them to inquire.

If learned anything from this I would probably change to a 2 battery AGM style large capacity battery with a powerful 1 bank charger. Add a shore power connection port and isolator. I bought more of a trickle smart charger... which will be fine for my needs as I don't get too far out there without being able to recharge.

All said and done, I am excited about my system. With my setup, LED lights, 12v outlets, water pump and ARB fridge, I should be good for 4 days without rationing power. I have the capacity in water and propane to stay at least that long too. My goal for a solo trip would be a comfortable week plus!

Have you run a hot lead from the Toyota to the trailer pig tail to trickle charge the batteries on the run? with a diode in line you would deliver power to the batteries while driving and not be using the batteries when starting the Toyota...from your thread it says you have a 7 pin pig tail that would give you a spare wire which you could use if you were wired
ground/earth
indicator right
indicator left
brake
tail/ night light
reverse

just a thought

Drew buddy, just one minor statement about one of the threads and statement you made. The Adventure trailer although very capable and ultimate as a build platform has issues that may or may not have been addressed, as of this writing. The AT has a terrible paint and powder coat issue. I just travelled 6K miles thru the South rain, tornadoes, hurricane (Katrina) and there is more rust on the machine than you can believe. not a good sign. There were no scratches or gouges allowing rust to develop, and the powder coat has flaked off. This may also be due to the Calif ARB and their no real solution to paint issue. Nice treailer you are doing there though.

registering your trailer

First off congrats on the new baby! I also have a 3 1/2 y old boy and a 1 1/2 girl! It gets challenging to get outside and build anything when the little ones arrive in life... but lots of fun as well!

Congrats on the awesome build! You have talent!

Im building one of my own and am trying to find experiences regarding registering the trailer!

I know different states do things different but any words of guidance help! I'm in CA.

Thank you

Paulo

Congrats!

Congrats on the baby!

Your trailer build is packed full of awesome ideas, thanks for taking the time to document it.

When you say "shore power" do you mean you can plug in at a campsite or your driveway and charge those batteries? Do you have any solar charging capability?

Thanks

Butch
