Builds My R2.8 Cummins FJ40 (RJ40) daily driver build

Yeah my front and rear 3rd members have already been rebuilt with ARB lockers so I don't want to redo that. But I would sure have gone for that lower transfer case gearing. Like I said that alone would reduce 4.11's to 3.80's reducing a couple hundred RPM's at 65. Plus I'm running 34" tires which will help my RPM's.

By the Way, got mine installed this weekend.
My next real concern is the conflict between the Exhaust (Aftertreatment DOC) Canister and Front Drive Shaft, a lot happening in that very small area. May have to run forward under the oil pan then to the back. Going to have to study this, anyone else have any ideas they are certainly welcome by me. Sorry Arthur not trying to highjack your thread.

@amico OK yeah I see where you're coming from. It's too bad. I guess if the higher RPM really get on your nerves you can do the diff gear swap.

That's a thing of beauty man! It looks so good! Interesting issue. Looks like Sheck44 has it running straight back along the frame.

Hijack all you want! I'm stoked to see those pics!

Fyi, axis has a delete for that DOC canister. For off road use only of course!

They're out of a 2009 BMW 335. I fabricated the mounts. I'll be putting a fuel tank in the rear. I bought a $250 18 gal aluminum tank that fits in between the frame.. Doesn't have baffles so I'll have to cut it open and add them. Unless someone knows how to put foam ones in that won't mess with the fuel sender?

Holley makes the hydromat system. Looks pretty cool on tv. I think they did a foam baffle on xtreme 4x4 once but cant remember which manufacturer it was. The whole thing went in through the pump opening.

All of this stuff is designed for gas too, so have to check to make sure it works for the greasy stuff.

Is that the tuffy console? I thought the cupholders were on the floor.

Is it a 6.5" that fits? Assume the 8" is too wide.

I am trying to determine how much I need to open the stereo opening in the dash for a single din deck. I want the pioneer one where the screen comes out of the single. It has android auto so it clones your phone on the screen, then was thinking switches in the tuffy.

Yeah I saw it and already received it from AXIS I am going to have to get the intake clocking ring as well. I'm checking to see if they will sell that front oil filter mount that installs under the radiator they show in their mockup, that will sure free up some firewall space as well as make easier & cleaner oil changes. I am considering Arthur's idea of eliminating the fuel tank under the passenger seat. I have a rear tank installed in mine as well and I don't know with both tanks that I would ever need 40 gallons of fuel. I would sure like the added storage.

Have you seen sarpinz fj40 (instagram) with r2.8? He had it done in Washington and they used a much different setup than axis. I actually like it better. They ran the intercooler hoses differently.

Seats look really high, but I like them. Are the electrics going to be easy to hook up?
Yeah I know what you mean! I'm really tall though. I plan on driving this as my only car so I needed it to be comfortable. I also cut a piece out of the wheel well so I could move the seat further back.

The electronics are somewhat difficult. The drivers seat has a function where if it doesn't "see" commands from the CANbus on the BMW it shuts off after 10 secs or so. So you've got to install a switch to take power away after you move the seat. Then you can reapply power to move it again. No issues on the passenger side. If you're interested I have a ton of pictures and wiring schematics.

Any chance you have a link for that foam? The console is a Rampage 31515. I think it's 8 3/4" wide. With the BMW seats it fits perfectly. Because of the height of my seats I'll have to raise it quite a bit, but that just means it'll have no problem clearing the transmission hump.

That passenger tank should be replaced with a 8" subwoofer!

That's a standard 1 DIN in the dash. I have to widen the opening and lightly increase the height. I have 3.5" speakers that will go under the dash AC louvers. I've removed the dash pads so there will be room. My 6.5" speakers will fit in front of the wheel well on the sides where the filler neck was previously. I think I'm going to build pads on top and match the height with the center console for arm rests.

I am planning on Vintage Air for HVAC so not sure how everything will work until I have that to mock up. My wife and I were kind of thinking to keep the dash pads, looks like a not fun place to bump your knees (I am 6'4" and she is 5'9"). Assuming I will need to trim those too to fit a single DIN. This is the stereo we are thinking Pioneer Single DIN 6.8" Multimedia DVD Receiver with Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay (AVH3500NEX) It's on sale now but assume black friday etc will be fine later. We are still considering the dash, she like the retro look of the original pull knobs so we may try to retain some of those (hazard, maybe valve for rear heater?) I ordered the American autowire extreme wiring kit, probably don't need waterproof but for a $150 more I figure it's worth it. All my body panels are ready for the blaster, going to Kelowna tomorrow to pickup my frame and 3/4 tub along with paint. Kids will get to go to waterpark etc. Super excited, it's like daddy Christmas!

It's funny, I was telling her we should put the seats from my car in it (2008 M3 Sedan) and there you go putting in 335 seats! Do they have the power side bolsters in the driver's or is that only for M cars?
