Im still running the stock AC in my 89 and haven't had any issues with seals and I know it's still all stock.

Well I purchased the kit for the AC. Been cruising around in the 4runner enjoying. Down side is the rockers are rattling louder and louder!! Ugh...only thing left to replace is the cam. Gonna call 22reperformance to see if they think it's the cam.

On a positive note I got my buddies '79 FJ40 to start on it's own (w/o starter fluid). Replaced the fuel pump, but have never heard of or seen the arm break? Next stop is dropping the oil pan. Then desmog.

Your gonna desmog yours? If so document well please cause I'm going to as well. ;)

On an 22re EFI engine there really isn't much to "desmog." Smog equipment on a 22RE is: Cat converter, EGR, PCV, charcoal canister. Modern cats are much more efficient than they were 30 years ago. The charcoal canister does not hurt engine performance. Neither does the PCV. That doesn't leave much left and how much gain there is by removing the EGR is up for debate.

I'm not desmoging my 4Runner. That was just a reference to my buddies FJ40. All his vacuum lines are just dangling or cut. So instead of banging our heads trying to figure it out we're going to desmog it.

Regarding my 4Runner I am going to test my EGR this coming weekend. I also need to change my exhaust temp thingy (I'm drawing a blank on the technical name) to a 4 wire denso unit. That's about it for now till I decide on a cam.

Ox sensor? Where is yours located currently. If it is still in the factory location on the exhaust manifold there will be no advantage to running a heated 4-wire. If you are running your sensor further down the system, say between a header and the cat, then yes, but ...

I would not run a 4-wire. I would install a three wire from a early 90's Chevy Astro Van. Specifically a Denso 234-3094, 3-wire (about $50). You will need a standard screw-type bung installed into your pipe by a muffler shop. You will also need to modify your 1-wire connection with a ground, and a fused power source for the heater on the sensor ... oh, and a WeatherPack connector (box stores should have them). Ya, that is what I would do. :bounce:

Yeah I have a LC engineering header so the O2 sensor is a lot further down the line. The 4 wire was recommended but what's the difference between a 4 and 3 wire O2 sensor? Research to follow. Also was told to adjust the valves one more time using 6 on the intake and 8 on the exhaust. If this doesn't work then it's new cam time which I don't want to do.

Three wire has one ground, signal, positive.
Four wire is two grounds, signal, positive.

The Ox sensor I listed is what I have been running for several years. In theory the heater is computer controlled, but I found having it on all the time has not mattered. I run it off a switched fuse.

mine was exactly the same on my 83 fj60. I believe it happens when installed incorrectly.

Well I can't say I've done much in a good while. Still haven't installed my cam. I installed a new clutch and master but haven't finished bleeding it yet because me and the wife have been really sick. I also installed new calipers. Really hoping to get this thing running and driving soon as I have owned this thing for almost a year and put 260 miles on it! :bang: Plus I need it to tow this:

Finally back in the states. Was hoping my 4Runner would be done but since my mechanic works for same corporation I do I know he hasn't had time to work on it (repair shop is the side business). Everything is done except the timing. Also I was told my FJ40 maybe started soon. How sweet would that be to get both back!?!? I've only drove (well it was being pushed) the 40 200ft since owning it! :hillbilly:  Some pics of Bimini.

Ok. So I sold my 4Runner to a friend and this pass Monday after waiting 10 weeks I finally picked this up. 2015 Trail Edition with the XP package. Love it!

Let me be the first on this forum to tell you how much I hate you. Really, you suck.

Oh, so very nice.
