Alright, buddy, spill it; where's the time machine?

There's no way on earth a pig could look that clean and have been around for 41 years.
Congrats.

Thought that looked familiar. I remember the first time it came up on Expo Portal. I talked with the guy but couldn't make the trip to see it before he changed his mind.

Fantastic looking rig! Have fun!

You know, after doing some disassembly to mine last year, I discovered that grey was the original color before it had been repainted entirely white. Didn't give it much thought. :meh: But after seeing this one, I'm really rethinking bringing mine back to original vs. painting it orange. This grey is really growing on me! Looks sharp!

BTW - if you want to be a purist, paint the bezel and side vents black, which is appropriate for your model year. Will look amazing to bring it back to its stock appearance.

Also, I'd love to see a pic of the radio antenna. It's likely not stock, but I'm still trying to figure out where the stock location is for a 71/72. The PO just drilled an ugly (huge) one into the fender on mine. Would like to fix that mistake.

Don't believe it's correct that the front vents and bezel/grill on the 55s were originally black. Correct color for them would be Ash Grey Metallic, except for the few later pigs with factory chrome grills. Offset color, on the vents and behind "TOYOTA" on the grill, would be a satin black. Here are pics of some spare OEM vents and the grill on my Pig, restored to original.

I believe you're right. From a distance, mine looks black but up close it's most definitely ash grey metallic. Got a paint code for that? ;-)

Beautiful Pig!
I see you are running second dome light in the back of your Pig too - cool!
How did you get the black offset on your grille? Did you paint that in by hand?

Paint code would be muy bueno!

Added in an third cross brace to strengthen and a 2nd dome light and OEM mount. Luckily remembered to face it toward the front on the second stock brace to avoid interfering with the headliner rods.
Also cut a fourth factory brace and placed it running toward the front from just over the rear window to the oem brace. Roof had been caved there and wanted to add as much support as possible.

That was a "gift" from my body and paint guy, who unexpectedly did base and clear on my bumpers and other trim in oem colors. Don't know which he masked/sprayed first.

Paint code would be muy bueno!
Ash Grey Metalllic is T145 according to my receipts.

Finally taking this on a nice road trip, halfway through of probably an 800mi trip. Actually got 17.5mpg of ~60mph driving on the way to the beach - definitely satisfied with that!

Getting use out of the rear window too...

Just updating with a few good pics taken by the local Toyota dealer at a Land Cruiser show they hosted last weekend - great turnout by the local Mud group Olde North State Cruisers
