So shes all tuned up

Had her going for the past week.

Did a pre-run with the working pyrometer as a baseline as I was waiting for it to tune the truck. 800deg F pre turbo max EGT. One and a quarter turn of the fuel screw later its 1100F pre turbo.
Boosting 14.5psi no intercooler as of yet
Thoughts so far. Holy **** it is a a completely different truck. It pulls like a freight train and I am all smiles, this was
exactly what I was hoping for. It definitely feels quicker than my HDJ81, how much quicker I don't know.I think it would beat it for sure, pulls WAY harder.
I still have to turn up the fuel some more as my max egt is 1100F but i lost my little socket while tuning on the side of the highway eariler on in the week. I will tune it up as soon as the rain stops, should only be 1/8 to 1/4 more of a turn on the fuel screw to get it to 1200F MAX EGT pre turbo. It stays at max egt for a very short period of time. Safe in my eye and with the amount of research I have done.
Smooth acceleration and power throughout the rpm band, its very drivable. There is a good sized hill that I have always driven at 80km/hr and been pretty light on the pedal just to go easy on the engine. I can now mat my foot to the floor and it will accelerate HARD up the hill from 80kms/h all the way to 110 at the top and about 1000deg F on the pyro (pre turbo). Its still got plenty of juice. I have a run to the ski hill Friday with a few good hills. Curious about the fuel economy and overall drive ability highway and hill wise.
Boost gauge will start to move at ~1100 - 1200rpm. and I can get it to full boost (14.5lbs) at 1500 rpm if I drive it like an ass hat. Usual driving 10psi at that rpm with some load and full boost at roughly 1800-2000 rpm with usual driving habits.
I get very simlar results to AdamB's Grunter install on his HDJ81.
1100rpm - 2lbs
1200rpm - 5psi
1400rpm - 10lbs
1500rpm - 15lbs
Holds that to over 3000rpm (I rarely rarely go there)
Flat highway
Cruising 80kms/h - boosting ~ 9lbs
Cruising 100km/h - boosting ~12 psi
The ceramic coating I think is helping too with cool down time. After a hard run around it will drop to 300 deg in seconds, I am shocked as my old hdj81 took way more time than that from what I remember. I am really happy I did this so far.
Stuff planned for a little later on this year:
Install the boost comp onto the pump
Injector servicing coming up (researching some stuff first on injectors)
Design a custom intake plenum and the TMIC (top mount intercooler) This should give more air to the cylinders and prevent leaning out cylinders 1 and 6. These seem to be the cylinders that go on the 1hz's with turbos. Should give more power too.
This should drop off the EGTs a bit more and have the ability to turn up the fuel some more. Apparently the turbo is good for 20psi max

.
My final goal is to have ~150rwhp on skinny 33s, this should be possible with my fuel pump in my eyes as the 10mm pump on the pre 99 1hz engines max out at this range or a little above. I am looking at the idea of upgrading to a later model 1hz pump which has 11mm plungers or even getting a 12mm 1hd-t pump. This will only happen when I have to get my 1hz's pump serviced. Hopefully a long way away.
Graeme this turbo kicks ass, I want another one for my 75 at some point when I can afford it, maybe a little bit higher spec one. I am dreaming of comp truck power. I just picked up a CT26 off a 1hd-ft for it. In the mean time I might try and track down a 7mgte turbo and do a hybrid for some fun up to 18psi while the other truck mods occur.
Anyone wanting to fit one to a 1HZ this is the turbo to do in my eyes, as I said it is a COMPLETELY different truck now.
Though with the power increase my clutch is slipping a bit now if I hammer on it. Put the order in for an Exedy Safari Tuff today from John @ Radd Cruisers. This should fix the problem. The original clutch was a little funky since day one in this truck. I probably could ride it out for awhile but I'll just get it done next month or two when I do a few other maintenance things.
