For the missing mounting point, I made up a void former from a piece of old plastic chopping board.

This will sit in the place where the mount needs to go and I'll form up fibreglass around it.

I glued the void former to the back of a plastic ruler, which will hold it in position and form the mould shape for the missing part of the flare.

With 3 layers of woven glass mat in place and loaded with resin.

Finally I clamped over the void block to help it form the required shape.

Love the work so far but can't believe you stripped the chrome off... I've been trying to find a chrome set for ages. Would have happily swapped you (I have a number of black plastic ones in great condition).

Well the chrome on my parts was pretty rough and peeling off in a lot of places, so they needed refinishing one way or another. Since I'm going all black, the remnants of the old chrome need to come off first. It's proving to be quite resilient though - 3 days in the acid and there is still some chrome on there.

Sunday morning I got the wheel arch flares finished. A few of the spots needed another layer of glass to properly restore the structure.

I reckon these will be good now. They just need a bit of filler here and there before painting.

Sunday night I started on the Dynamat treatment. It's a bit trickier than you'd think but I managed to get both rear doors done on "night shift".

Yesterday I was able to get one door fully reassembled and I'll get the other rear door done today.

I needed a nice easy job for night shift last night. I gave the rear seats a sponge bath and bolted them back in. It felt pretty significant getting those in and it looks much more complete. The seats are in very good condition and the velour came up nicely with a vac and wash.

What are your plans for the flooring?
I'm planning to leave it as-is for now. I like the practicality and look of the grey rubber liner compound that I sprayed on. I may fit carpets or vinyl in future. For now it'll do and it is one less job and expense getting it on the road.

On Wednesday I was lucky enough to have some help. A guy from the local 60-series Facebook group offered to come over and lend a hand. We managed to get both rear doors fitted.

I'd also got the door handles back from power coating so got those installed and the doors properly adjusted.

It's so satisfying putting on nice new parts. I found this pinchweld material at Clark Rubber and it fits perfectly.

The doors went on relatively quickly so we decided to chuck on the snorkel and do a test fit of the.front bar.

I like the look of it. The fit is going to need some tweaking though. I suspect that the previous owner has used the bar as a recovery point, as the mounting brackets are a bit skewed and the whole thing sits about 15mm to the left. I'll have to make up some new brackets to get it aligned correctly.

It's the little details that make a difference during a rebuild.

It's easy to re-wrap the looms.

New fasteners improve the look for very little expense.

I also dismantled the side mirrors and have had the mounts powder coated. The mirror housings are plastic and will therefore be wet painted. Yesterday I dropped off all the remaining parts to my painter. The wheel arch flares will be done in black Raptor Liner. The grill, headlight frames and mirror housings will be satin black. And the lower valence panel will be body colour. Everything should be ready for my next break :)

The seats have finally been reupholstered. Really happy with how they've turned out!

They are full leather - no vinyl used anywhere. The original suspension bases habe been retained and given a service and paint. I also had new aftermarket seats heating installed, which I sourced from Check Corporation. That will be nice on long trips :)

The front door internals have been all cleaned up and fresh grease applied.

Then the doors were reassembled with new bailey channels and door rubbers.
