Now guys! I paid way too much for this car! Today I measured the cylinder liners and off cause they showed up worn out! Damn!

So now it is getting interesting! I have found a place where they sell reedy to go liners for the H engine and if thats true. I will try and get the old liners out and new ones in without paying a machine shop a dime! But maybe it is impossible but I will try!

now you have to look at it as an educational investment tool to learn about Cruisers ...
think positive/

Yep

You are rigth! I really find this motorstuff interesting, but in the same time freekin expensive! All parts for the old Land Cruiser is expensive here in europe.

Maybe you are rigth compaired to other brands, but I can tell that the prices in US are more or less 50% cheaper than in Denmark! No BS :)

But wtf it is a amazing piece of history

same here, Land Cruiser parts are 25% to 50% more than our brothers in the South.

lived in Calgary for 30 years ... the Keg is hard to beat for steak and prime rib ...

Absolutely!

Today I have tried to make a tool for taking out the worn sleeves. Now I need to have a kind of dolly milled to fit the inside of the sleeves and the edge of the sleeves. Then I will know if it will work. Otherwise i will take the hole darn thing apart!

take a cutter and cut a line through the sleeve top to bottom for ease of removal.
but then you might already know this.

you will be tanking the engine anyway to get all the crud out of the oil passages and water jackets, right?
take your time, you seem to be good with jigs so make one up and use it.

just trying to be of encouragement.

Tanking - you mean putting the engine in a tank with cleaning fluid?

Sorry - I normally speak Danish :)

For every minute that passes I get closer to take the hole thing apart!

Nice Build, read the whole thread. I like the tires. I have one question and one suggestion. Did this rig come with an OEM power steering set up? If so would it possible to post more pictures of it. The suggestion I have is take your starter apart if you not already done so and look it over may need a rebuild(I'm not saying this is why you having starting issues, just be surprised if this something else you have to do). I had similar problems starting the engine at 20celcius/68 f. Everything checked good so I took apart the starter and found that only one set of brushes were working and the other set were worn out. I researched the parts and replaced them. After it warms up it starts as soon as the key is turned momentarily. Good luck with your engine repair.:)

do it right the first time ...
complete rebuild
no short cuts, you will regret it.

I have read to drop dry ice into the liner once you have them loaded up with the pull type press. If that fails the nest trick is to run a few light welds top to bottom to shrink the liner for easy removal. There is a bit of info in tractor forums about removing liners that are stubborn or seized.
Good Luck.

yea i have done the weld trick it works well. we also freeze the replacement liners and leave the block in the sun to warm but i guess hot days are rare in denmark at this time of year. we have a dolly made for the top of the replacement liners also and simplyoil them and drive home with a hammer.
