Me and my dad went in halves on a '67 FJ40 that I spied behind a house. It was this guys dad that had passed away about 10 years ago and it had been sitting for at least 5 years. It's in amazingly good condition with no cancer, perfect glass, and a really clean(relatively) interior. It has the original F motor, 3 on the tree, and even a York compressor( i guess it had A/C at one time, but there were a lot of parts missing). Here's a few pics of it in the bushes and then some in my garage...

ok, i lied. i couldn't find the pics of it in the woods, so just imagine it. So here's the plan: swap in a 350, HEMI, or a diesel of some sort, make it an automatic, Spring over, power steering, disc brake conversion, of course new paint and interior, and maybe a mild lift. So far I've cleaned the carb and took the water neck off only to find the coolant had gelled up and i guess rusted the thermostat out. The water neck had corroded pretty bad from the inside, so i'd need a new one. My thoughts tho are that instead of trying to rebuild the F and swap in another motor later on that i should just save the time and get a different motor right off the bat. Since my dad lives about 90 miles away from me we've decided to take the body off and he can work on that and i'll have the frame and drivetrain here to work on. i'll try to keep yall updated on our progress as we go along.

I swear to god that there are an elite group of bezel ninja out there who know when a cruiser is about to be sold. They sneak in under cover of dark, murder any witnesses and using their ancient 10mm wrenches they flip the bezel of the cruiser to be sold.

I went this weekend to look at an FJ40 a guy has had sitting up, I am not good with talking down a price but I did tell him his bezel seems to be stuck upside down and lowers the value...he offered to knock $150 off for it.

don't worry, i already flipped the bezel. i've been lurkin around here for about a week, so thats one of the first things i picked up.

Damn those bezel ninjas! I put mine on with 2 phillips screws, 1 flat blade screw, and I left one off just to confuse them.

i know i know, my DD is a jeep, but as soon as this thing is runnin it's outta here. Thanks for all the compliments, i'm really really happy with it. The floorboards have a little bit of surface rust, but there is absolutely anything that i'm worried about. I'm still amazed the condition it's in. It's gonna be a lot of work, but i've been wanting one for a long time. Sorry, but i'm gonna hang on to the plates, I collect em...
That is definitely an after market heater. Instead of Jeepdude it should be cuiserdude...hehehe

I had to ask about the plates, you don't see many ol' texas ones out here.
I agree, keep it original, obviously its your rig, its just hard to see these things getting so rare. Either way a little love and that thing will be a great rig. Good luck.

Nice! I wish I could say mine had that little rust... I'm all for making it functional whatever that looks like for you. That said i like a stock/modded build. Diesel conversions are sweet too.

Hey you have to give him some credit. It isn't everyday that someone realizes that he has been driving an inferior vehicle. I mean at least he has seen the light and purchased quality. We have to bust your chops over your chosen name. Be careful of the addiction though. There are alot of previous and current Jeep owners on this site.
