Today - got the oil changed, addressed a leak with the radiator hose and installed the 4plus rear bumper.

Hardest part was leveling it to the body and marking off where to drill the 8 holes. Need to clean up the rear skins - Thinking about how I want to repair and paint that metal for the near future.

Before shot -

yuck (I think most will come of with the clr/wax; - bumperettes, hitch and tow ball to remove yet
IMG_4031.jpg

Can see how close the lower bolt holes are to the lower part of cross member. It worked - nuts fit fine on the back. Not shown, painted the cross member after removing the bumperettes etc.

Side shot done - This thing is stout!

Traveled to the Iowa/Illinois border to the "Cruiser Farm" today and retrieved the 2f and a few other ad hoc parts (couple he would not part with since he didn't know how many he would have left. Reminded me of that MASH show where they were hoarding incubators :) ). I always like meeting people and hearing their stories. Took a tour of the place. Oh yeah, today was with Matt Tarnow. The story I like most is that he has lived in three homes around there and Marv had been to all three and stayed over before his passing - and the time/details around that.

I borrowed my brother-in-laws truck and took the 4plus pallet. It would not fit in the bed when I was swapping cars this am - too long by two inches - show must go on. So used some tires to buffer it. Made it back and unloaded and awaits the day someone needs it.

Tomorrow, may clean Yellr up and work on reducing the shizzle left from the old bumper setup.

That is why I started the podcast because I love hearing the stories

It's been a while.

Today and Saturday are Cruiser days now that I'm back in town - will post picts and/or descriptions with what I get done. Will say today will be some of that 4Plus pallet I got a few weeks ago.

My right blinker went out (hate electrical). I thought it was the front right as it was a problem before. One of the three wires has no power so will need to trace that back some day. Spliced the green&black/white wires to the one green power and front is fine. Short story long, was the rear bulb. See vide if you care. When I push the bulb in, it starts working. Lots of corrosion on bulb and socket. Put Deoxit on it. It helped, it blinks more often than not. Need to do more cleaning.

And more stuff came. Since I blew the budget on the 4Plus, doing some smaller purchases over time.
Front Dobinsons springs and pin with the sale last month.

And got these sweet jumper cables this week from @Fourrunner that goes with the winch quick connects he sells. Thanks. I going to change my headlights then get all these cables set. Going to see if I can make a bracket to hold the the quick connects. It is tight behind the radiator overflow bottle.

I meant to comment on this before, but thought to include a picture that I have yet to take. I have been running a quick connect jumper cable setup for about 25 years now with the connector exposed in the wheelwell of my 45 without any issue. I like not having to open the hood when I want to use it.

And FWIW, my wife and I have been overnight guests in the Tarnow’s home.😉

Matt also talked about you being guests. Starting a trip from MI and driving around.

That would be great when you have a chance.

I was thinking on Friday making a bracket over the battery to hold it. Don’t know. I like your thought about not needing to pop the hood

Was thing I might try my first 3D print ‘cuz I don’t have enough going on….

I have this pic from my spring hanger mod that shows how/where I routed the cables out of the engine compartment :

And if you zoom in on this one you can see the covered end of the plug at about even height with the clear marker light

Chasing some older project that have been put on hold.

Seats back from power (will post the other stuff - pict makes it look darker than it is...? - it was the closest to the factory grey for this year vehicle - rear seats, roll bar, and front seat backs).

Have the 4plus legs too - seems like one is in line with the permanent seat bracket. Not the case with the other seat - finger tips at edge of the factory bracket. Not sure what I want to do

4Plus brace conflicts with the welded factory bracket. Could I offset the new brace? yeah perhaps.

Fits the other seat.

Will put on old foam and covers for now - thinking of going with the Coral color long term - restoring the front seats I got from @65swb45 is my planned winter project -

There are a few smaller projects I should do too while the weather is decent. Or I just go drive the rest of the day.

Are you removing the factory seat brace/leg and adding the 4plus? Yellr shines up like a new penny..👍
I'm leaning towards not installing the 4plus seat brace. I will take better pictures - I will need to grind out the part of the bracket holding the leg and not sure I really want to do that - it would be a one-way street. I can get the seat brace on the other seat no problem, just the one.

And as I live my life by Ron Swanson, from Parks and Rec, sayings - never half-ass things, whole ass one thing.

Thanks about the shine - working to make sure "All hat, no cattle" doesn't apply.

Interesting thing to me - last night decided to take the interstate on way back from Omaha for a short bit - initial was just a 2 mile stretch to the backroads - well that was fine so continued for 15 miles and I passed someone... going uphill. Could feel the power when I mashed the accelerator to pass. Were they going slow? Does Dan Quale eat his vegetables? Sure, yet felt good after all the engine f$ckery in the past.

I'll get some picts of the seat later today

I passed someone... going uphill.

What witchcraft is this!!??

That had to feel good. After getting passed by logging trucks in the mountains, I often think of SBC’s. 🙄

Glad you have it dialed in.

Here is a close-up of the jump seat and the 4plus brace.

Easy to remove the spring and pin for the leg, but the other part is welded to the seat and just not convinced I want to do that to both sides.

close up on one side (as if I needed to really say that)

Just curious why you were adding the 4plus? I’m adding the supports because my seats were sans legs.

BTW, seats look fantastic. Nice work.
