I "found" a 28550-46021 glow indicator on Megazip. It showed in stock at the Japan warehouse so I bought it but not holding my breath that it will actually ship.

Saw a 40 a couple of cars in front of me this morning, took a picture and realized it was Cim's. Saw it up close in person and it looks/sounds really nice. Nice job Cim!

I got the email I knew I would get regarding the glow indicator. Discontinued.
On a positive note I finished the title process this morning. I drove to another county for theft inspection. Worked out well since it was free from Hays county. I'm kinda sad to have to take off the Costa Rican plates.

Excellent BJ40!

Thanks for sharing all the monetary info on acquiring a BJ40 from CR, invaluable information!!

Round two trying to get a glow controller form MegaZip. They did take the 28550-46021 out of there system so now it shows discontinued. But the 28550-57010 closed controller shows in stock so I ordered it. Like the previous order I'm not optimistic that it will ship.

If you reach that point where you can't source a factory controller, any chance that you can modify/use something from a different vehicle? Mercedes OM617/300D? I'm sure you can find the whole setup in a local junkyard.

It's a goner too. I've tried to order that recently. :(

Yes I could defiantly find something else but I am on a quest to find this unicorn controller now. My whole system works, only the glow indicator doesn't glow due to it being for a six cylinder diesel. Costa Rica is my next source to find a used one. My buddy is coming up in a few weeks and I'm hoping we can find one that he can bring with him. If it all goes to s*** I will just put a manual glow setup in just like I have in the 80.

You may want to try the glow controller for the hj45/47. I use It in my bj40 with the hkt pt-100 glow plugs and it works great. Glows in 15-20 seconds and cranks right up.

That's the controller I have now but doesn't glow with my 8.5v plugs. It warms them properly and starts first crank everytime, just doesn't get enough volts to glow. It will come down to finding the right controller or switching out the plugs to to match my controller. Which would suck because I just bought new plugs.

Guess I missed that earlier. The plugs I use are around $50 here for all 4 hkt. Not sure if that would be worth a try. Maybe you can have a set brought up from CR.

Ohh yeah that's better than the $90 I paid for mine. I may have my friend bring some up in a few weeks when he visits. Are they available at any parts store there?

Starting front axle swap this weekend. I'm getting tired of the trip hazard in the garage. It will also be the first time attempting to make brake lines.
I still need to get a few items like oil lines, banjo bolts, and figure out what needs to be done with the mount and pulley for the NPR alternator with vacuum pump I got. Still trying to find a stock vacuum pump so I don't have to modify anything.
