Well looks like I will go that route. Just got this reply.
"Hello,
Unfortunately, production of the requested part has been discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available.

There is no remaining stock available for purchase.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused."

On a brighter note I was able to get both seats installed with one drivers side seatbelt. No photos tonight as I drove it to the neighborhood bar down the road for a beer. I still have a slight pull to the right on my first brake while driving and then it goes away. Not to worried about it since the front axle will be getting swapped out soon. Just waiting on the NPR alternator with vacuum pump I ordered from eBay to show up first. Can't wait for power brakes.

I put on the winch rope this evening. The ugly orange rope actually almost matches the truck. I also have the roll bar ready for paint this weekend. Sprayed it with primer last weekend. This also means the top comes off this weekend, hopefully. Driving to and from work today in traffic was like driving in a sauna with the 100+ degree heat. I can't wait to have the top off. It's the one thing I miss since leaving the jeep world.

The wife and I took off the top today. Broke one bolt in the process and uncovered some rust also. Nothing that I wasn't expecting coming from Costa Rica. Odd are being garage kept with soft top plans it will never get the hard top back on. Tomorrow I will bolt in the roll bar.

This was the worst of the rust. Some on the other side and some on the bottom of the windshield. Maybe a nice winter project

Today I made a spacer out of square tubing so my spare would fit the tire carrier. Pretty simple project. Now just waiting on the paint to dry to install.

The 1" spacer worked perfectly. You can barely see light between the tire and carrier.

No real update. I am on my second attemp to get my title to the US. First attemp FedEx lost it in Nashville. Why it went there I don't know. Second attemp is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow.
Tomorrow I will also attemp inspection which should be a breeze since diesels and old cars are safety only. I did have to ghetto fab my license plate holder/light to the spare tire with some zip ties since I don't have a tailgate yet.

I also work accross from a police station which is the same location that I have to bring it to for my theft inspection, which is convenient. Everytime I drive it to work I find myself surrounded my motorcycle cops looking like they want to pull me over. So far they haven't. They probably are wondering why a gringo is driving with no top or doors with Costa Rican plates. I guess I would be legal because it's in my name, insured, and CR registration is current?

Passed safety inspection this morning. Next is scheduling an appointment with Austin Police Department Theft Division which only does inspections on 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month.

I got my NOS hand throttle in today which I ordered from @Racer65. It's a discontinued part and I was having a hard time even finding a used one but found it on his site while looking at his brake boosters. Luckily I threw the remnants of mine on the garage floor and not the trash because I needed the nut and washer thingy off it. It was a perfect match.

And a few of it installed.

I don't think I have posted this next photo of the Costa Rican theft deterrent. I assume you put a lock on it so a thief can only drive straight?

Classic piece of engineering to say the least...

FWIW-I did the same thing on my '72 tire carrier to fit a 33x12.5x15 BFG on 15x8 wheel on the stock carrier. I need to go back one day and raise the tire mount up a little since it blocks the latch on the early type right side carrier.

Title process update
More of a rant but here we go. The last thing needed is VTR-68a inspection. In Austin this can only be done by Austin Police Department or Sherriff's department. I called APD three weeks ago to schedule inspection. They only do it twice a month and didn't have a slot until end of September. They also will only accept $40 cash which makes me wonder how any government entity gets away with that still. Seems shady. It is 2016, right?
Sheriff's department is the same way, two days month, but no appointment needed. They only accept cashiers check. I think I'm golden. Today was the day and I was going rain or shine with no top. Called up there and they are closed due to rain! This morning it wasn't raining either during their 8-11am window of inspections. First break in the weather in almost a week. Now I have to wait until 1st Wednesday of next month and hope for no rain. So now all projects on hold so I don't run the risk of not being able to drive it.
End rant.

I got the pressed tailgate which looks like the original. Ordered the version with the finished inside. It looks very good. Will post pics when I get my truck back. Touching up some paint and painting tailgate and Aqualu half doors to match truck.

I'm leaning that direction on tailgate as well.
