Well... We're back home ... Had a great time and great weather, camping and hiking near San Juan Creek, in the Toyoibe Range, between Big Smokey Valley and Reese River Valley, Nevada.

We were going to Columbine Campground... About 15 miles south, but the campground sucked ... It was very tight and overgrown.

I'll post up some scenery later... But, here's the current visual of my arm... I'm seeing a new orthopedist on the 21st... And getting an MRI ... Gotta make sure it's gonna heal on its own...

Rest well all my MUDbrothers and Welturesten alles mijn Nederlander vrienden!! @bj40green @FJ4043
en iedereen

Thanks Skip! It doesn't hurt most of the time. Just have to wear a sling to remind me not to use it.

I'm very fortunate to live out here! I lived in Texas for over 30 years and hated the lack of public land to play on!

Thanks Jeff!

Here are a few pictures... still learning this new camera and shooting with my injured arm...

First, my Son-in-Law was quick-triggered, when he captured this fox:

... and when he captured this AWACS (in my day) turboprop - it flew by us several times ... we were camped north of the Nellis Weapons Range and Area 51... I guess they were training or that they run an active overflight as part of the security our there...

I love cloud shapes... am I the only one who sees a small dog with his mouth forming an 'O'?

Still plenty of snow, from last week, on the high peaks... I want to drive 44 on that track over the leftmost hill when she's feeling better.

I was able to move my orthopedist appointment up to Monday morning, May 18th, so I should know more by Monday... gotta get my elbow back in shape, or I'll be fly fishing, in Colorado, left handed in mid-July... luckily I can cast with either hand... but could have trouble trying to net the fish... especially the 18-21" fish we normally expect.

Thats actually a Navy E-2C Hawkeye. Their version of an AWACS, almost the same functions. They have a couple of them up in Reno and one was here on the ramp in Vegas a couple of weeks ago for about 10 days or so. There was a big exercise going on. Ill be headed up to that area tonight to play with a bunch of airplanes and try not to get "shot down", theoretically of course or at least they better not actually shoot me down or I will be slightly pissed.

That busted up wing looks like someone beat you with a baseball bat.

I see the s***su (?) in the clouds.

Thanks Zach!

I passed your info on to Tommy (S-i-L). Here's hoping you don't get shot down at all!!

Yeah, my arm is disgusting - not as black as it was a couple of days ago - it doesn't normally hurt - but, when I make certain motions, I really know something's wrong - it hurts like hell. I actually tripped and fell on it a couple of days ago and thought, "this is gonna really f***in' hurt!" - I was right. I'll be glad to see a specialist, so he can decide if it's gonna be self-healing or whether I need surgery... I'm hoping for the former...

Exactly!!

Good to know that I'm not the only one who sees things!!

s***su?? All I can make out is two bikini clad super models carrying a cold "beverage" through the surf, next to a grass hut, with palm trees swaying in the background as a wave crests and plays out on the sandy beach..Huh, how do I miss the details?

Thanks Zach!

A friend of mine had a similar arm

Today, I saw an Orthopedist for my elbow. I have a partial avulsion of the tricep ligament, due to a piece of bone fractured off of the point of my elbow. The bone fragment has moved about 2" from my elbow, but there are still enough ligament fibers attached to my elbow to ensure the ligament will fully reattach to elbow.

So, the good news is that it will continue to heal and continue to hurt less each day... I should be able to fly fish in time for my mid-July trip.

The bad news is, as the Orthopedist said, "Normally I would recommend reconstructive surgery, but given your age, that would be the wrong call".

So, my take-away... Its a good thing it will heal without surgery, because I'm just too damned old to be put through such invasive surgery.

Now I know how Mr Parker (my Golden Retriever) felt when I said, "He's too old to put him though such invasive surgery".

Where ya heading? We'll need copious amounts of pics so we can live vicariously through your catch!

Conejos River, South-Central Colorado, two weeks, with our Daughter and Son-in-Law, every July or August - this year mid-July - camping at 10k', in our little Casita trailer - cooking with a dutch oven - dodging rain drops - hiking - and a lot of fly fishing!! Gunner loves it and Chester is gonna love it as well!!

There will be pictures!! Here's a preview of what I have to endure...

Whoa...
Someday I'll live in a place with greenery, and seasons, again. Beautiful!

Now that is NICE!! It looks very similar to the Metolius River. Parts of the Metolius area have less underbrush, but some areas are very similar to what is shown in this picture. I'm really looking forward to pictures of the upcoming trip.
