Back on the 45 this week buttoning things up here and there....still monkeying around with fuel lines....we just have to button up the return line at the fuel rail.

My guys came up with a slick setup for the fuel pump and it's related stuff in the rear of the truck. Pump is mounted at the same level as the bottom of the tank but out of harms way. Nice setup.

Found out that these were still available from Toyota....pretty cool. Rear 45 bumpstops.

Also learned something really interesting....'elephant horns' are really an Elephant Horn. I hope I wasn't supposed to know that.....because I didn't. I though they looked like elephant ears. Ha. Armed with my new knowledge, I went ahead and restored my Elephant Horns.

Picked up this 8274 I found on Craigslist today....neat old winch. Since the PTO is not going back on the LV, I think this guy might go on it. It's patina will match the LV just right.....

I posted this up in my 79 build thread...figured I'd put a pic up here. We had this 2017 Mercedes G550 4x4 Squared come in the shop today. Neat rig. Portal axles, super cool suspension, carbon fender flares, etc. I would love to pop those portals on to one of my builds.....

it's an enormous truck....hard to believe MB builds them.

As planned...45 was off the stands and on the ground. Next week we build her an exhaust, tidy up a few little things here and there and I try to figure out how to pull my lead tech off customer work to build me a harness.......

So I learned today that a 33x10.50x15 tire won't fit as a spare in an LV without some mods to the carrier. There was probably a WAY easier way to do this....but we didn't do it. Pretty cool solution to get the tire hold down centered and the wheel spaced out property.

That's weird. I have one mounted in mine. It's alittle off but still works fine. Either way nicely done.

Ours wouldn't fit. It was at the very base of the wheel opening and nothing was fitting right. The spare was also leaning....I'm not so sure my OCD would have allowed it to be like that. My OCD usually wins.

I hated to cut up the OEM bracket but it had to be done and technically, it could always go back together. My guy did a really cool design on it.

E-brake installed and working......check.
Coolant overflow bottle installed......check.

Used a FJ60 overflow bottle/bracket and a FJ62 cap. Always makes me feel better to use Toyota parts where I can on my builds.

We wanted the E-brake in so we can get the wiring dialed in. We will be cramming in a lot of modules, wires, etc. under the dash...it will get tight in there real quick and with the 45s weird wiper setup, we're already at a disadvantage. My 45 pickup has the ECU mounted to the top of the glove box..

Funny you should mention that....I've been thinking about doing another one of these when the LV is done. A portal axle conversion would be incredible.

Got turned into this,

Tomorrow it gets burned in and cleaned up(probably sent out for thermal coating) and we get cross it off the ever shortening list of things to do.

It's funny how similar your exhaust downpipe is to mine, except yours is built waaay nicer.

Thanks showing off the brake line flaring tool, I just ordered one since Eastwood had it on sale and free shipping. Got to see one in action at the Daytona swap meet today, and you're right, I'm delighted just thinking about using it.

Can you post some pictures of what you are doing for your fuel lines on the motor itself? I'd really like to change the soft return line into braided stainless or something like that. I guess with my new tool I can flare it if I buy the 37-degree dies...:)

That brake flaring tool you bought will be your favorite tool to use. I'm telling you...it's the most satisfying tool I have bought. I love it. I wish I could use it more often. I bought a really cheap tubing straightener on Ebay and it was a great compliment to the flaring tool. I think I found one for under $40 shipped. Works perfect. I fought with straightening the lines by hand.....dumb.....do yourself a favor and get a straightener. You'll be good to go. When we pressurized the brake system on Friday, we had 2 leaks......all my fault....didn't tighten them down enough. Not bad though....I can remember fighting lots of leaks with the old style flare tools.

For my fuel pressure line at the motor, I found a really cool adapter:Fuel Line Adapter Fitting AN6 to M14x1.5 Female Inverted Flare (similar to Earls 9894DBH) - Mitsubishi 3000GT / Dodge Stealth Parts

This adapter made it all work. From this fitting, I ran a straight 6an female to push-lock fitting and a length of push lock hose to a 45 degree push lock to 6an female....then my filter and all that stuff. Worked like a charm.

You can see the fitting in this pic.....silver piece.

Some really boring pics.....all the stuff we're doing is really little knick knack stuff.

Got the pedals in and done, buttoned up the glove box and grab bar. I used a super cool Prismatic Powder called Forged Charcoal. It's one of the smoothest and richest powder coats I've ever seen. Really neat stuff.

Ran the throttle cable today, ran my cowl drain tubes, did some running of lines on the motor.....pretty small scale stuff.

Chomping at the bit to tear my main tech off customer pay work and get this thing wired. I'm ready to drive it.

Tidying up a few last things today.....diffs, trans and transfer are all filled. All of the plumbing under the hood is done for the coolant lines(the ones that go to the throttle body), crankcase breather, PCV, idle air speed....

We installed our fuel sender today....maybe this will help somebody down the road. We use the later model FJ40 unit which works with our Dakota Digital gauge setup. The 45lv tank has a really small flange so we had to redrill our 40 unit and of course shorten the float and build a gasket. Fits like it was made for it. Sender is OEM Toyota.
