If you install an aftermarket amp, you lose the volume knob functionality?
TL; DR? As noted earlier, yes.

Another option - needs $$ and time.

Buy an Alpine Optim8 DSP amp. It connects via digital cable to the T'eyes CC. It comes with a small remote control panel with a big volume knob. Remove the tape deck, make a blank plate which incorporates the Alpine remote unit.

I would avoid that amp, based on what I have seen elsewhere. I was about to go down this road and changed directions after watching updates on a car stereo forum that range from software inconsistencies to small fires. I am in the midst of doing an “OEM as possible” update and ended up ordering a different DSP amp that I expect will take quite a bit more to tweak, but I guess this is my new car hobby after my baseline is now fully finished… I personally like the OEM non-nav option combined with the latest in sound tech, but anticipate it isn’t for everyone.

Did you ever get the 360 cameras working? That would be a great upgrade if install isn’t too complicated.

Im neck deep in this install I have gotten most things to work No audio at this point however I had to split the original nav screen to use all the available plugs. I broke down to Mac display to the just the card where the harness plugs in. Once it is in everything works air con displays everything (Except no speaker) If you had to break up the screen assy how did you mount that last card with the teyes screen? Not a lot of space and I keep staring at it

Thank you
