Got the spare mounted and finished up all the bolting in of the bumper, prepping it for a trip to Austin and hidden falls this weekend. When I get back I’m going to do some interior work and new clutch, possibly install another 350 that I have to get ready for big bend in 2 weeks.

Well I have 5 days left to finish prep for big bend. Stripped the interior for some tranny cover mods and sound deadening. Going to have to hit it hard in the coming days to finish. Also going to install some different seats so I’ll need to make seat mounts.

I leave for big bend on Friday and this is what my truck looks like. Notice the flywheel visible through the tranny hole.

@effjay76 I can see in posts 49 and 52 that you applied some POR 15. What did you put on top of the POR15 to make it grey?

Is this a primer ? It looks almost like an undercoating spray.

I used lizard skin. It’s sound deadening and heat shielding, it’s very similar to bed liner, I only used it on parts that will be covered up, I’ve had past experience with bed liner and I don’t like it. Thanks for the compliments.

Currently I have some rubber mats that were roughly cut to shape and installed by one of the previous owners. I plan to make some steel sheets with storage and speaker holes. Stay tuned!

Ended up staying up until midnight on the day of departure reinstalling the transmission(s) and transfer case. The trip went off without a hitch, ole girl performed flawlessly. 1400 miles later and a bunch of things added to the list
of “things to replace”.

My tire carrier failed miserably and almost catastrophically upon the return from the big bend trip so I remade it with much thicker square tubing.

I refreshed the engine bay, including replacing the 350 with another of the same 350 with new seals and gaskets so hopefully it will only leak a little.

Went on a trip to hidden falls, truck was awesome with the exception of the throttle linkage continuously popping off.
