Thank you all for the condolences. You all obviously know the pain.
Indeed we do. Sorry that I saw this late, and very sorry for your losses. Gorgeous dogs and I'm sure that you gave them wonderful lives.

R.I.P. Carbon :( For 11 yrs. you had a larger than life presence in our household. You will be missed.

Pumpkin showed up at work in 2015 as a kitten, likely dumped nearby. He joined 3 others, one of which eventually moved home with me. But Pumpkin resisted domestication and outlived the others. He sheltered under the office trailer and in the shop in bad weather, and met me at the back door every morning for his breakfast, never wandering. He wouldn’t let me catch him to see a vet after he was neutered at 1 year old. Wild and free, hunting and being fed by us as well. He recently lost weight and stopped grooming himself and looked so bedraggled that last Friday morning I had decided to try to catch him and put him down. But he didn’t show for breakfast that day or over the weekend. Found him this morning in one of his favorite spots under the deck ramp, and buried him in a dry, sunny spot in the yard, where he lived all of his 11 years. I will miss him terribly, but he lived and died on his own terms.
Godspeed Pumpkin.
