G'day All, I got a good few hours in tonight. I finally finished the rust repairs on the rear window panel. The next step will be to go over it with the stripping disc to and I might need to get a couple of tight spots sand blasted.

THE DOORS: Well both doors are stripped. After breaking the window in the first door, I decided to read the manual. For anyone who is interested, here are Toyota's instructions on how to disassemble a 40 series door in 9 quick-and-easy to follow steps...............NOT. (No spell check available back in '84)

Calling all Aussies: Does anyone know of someone in Australia selling rust repair patches? I will double check but RareSpares only seem to sell the outside and it's the inside section that I need.

Ben I really like your meticulous cataloging of parts during disassembly. I used the tag and bag method and it worked out well enough. But your method is much more thorough. Looking ahead I can see your thread becoming an excellent reference record for future builds. Keep up the good work mate! I am looking forward to your completion of this awesome restroration with great anticipation !!

Ah, shucks........you guys. I only do it that way because I have the worlds worst memory. If I didn't there is no way on earth I'd be able to put it back together. Cheers, Ben

G'day All, Well a degree of normalcy is returning to our lives. The school year is about to get underway and we are back from a couple of weeks holiday in an area of South Australia called the Lime Stone Coast. I grabbed a couple of photos on the way. The first one is a wheat silo in western Victoria and a couple of other random shots.

G'day Peter, No I haven't visited Kangaroo Island. But it is on our 'possible' destinations for our next holiday. You need to put your car on a ferry to get there, which would make it seem like a real adventure. Cheers Ben (It's also the home to some very large sharks!)

Kangaroo Island *was our last destination during our first Australia trip.
Exact 30 years ago. At this time only a few European visited Australia. Was a great time.
During the trip 5 weeks we haven`t seen any other rental cars.
Drove a J75 camper from Britz ( they called me out at the airport of Alice Springs * unbelievable today :)
The first and only European(Germans) we have met was at Kangaroo Island.
They owened a Land Rover Series shipped it to Australia and drove then back to Germany via Africa.
Cheers Peter

* the ferry crossing was expensive at this time.

G'day Fellas, Has anyone got a lead on lower door rust replacement panels in Australia. I could get some via the CCOT in the US, but getting them to the front door Down Under will end up costing me about $270 AUD. Ouch!!! There are couple of places that sell the 'outer' but it's the 'inner' section that I need. Cheers Ben

Ben, if you do end up with the CCOT patches, avoid cutting the door where I did . The fit of their inside patches is not that good and it was a PITA to rework them. Leaving more of the original metal on the inside skin , I think, would have worked better with my limited body work experience :). The outside patch fit was much better.

Hey Ben,

Good to see a brother getting some spanner [sanding disc] time! Unsure about the patches, I take it you googled? Re the door consumables, there's a fella in Melbourne on the pages called Ben Keen who sources OEM materials for just this purpose. Failing that you could Amayama that s***.

And if the door panels are available they're only for later models. I need early ('63 panels). I may have to get inventive. GL with this nice build.

G'day All, I got few hours in this week. After seeing PG45er's post about the door replacement sections from CCOT. I picked up a donor from my local auto dismantler (Wrecker). The first two pics are the donor door.
